A Florida father had to use deadly force to defend himself and his 11 year old son from an early morning home invader this week.
Just before 6:00am, Chris Bane heard glass breaking inside of his Sarasota home. He armed himself and went to investigate.
According to My Fox Tampa Bay,
The burglar fired a shot and the homeowner returned fire, striking and killing the intruder, said Wendy Rose, a spokesperson for the Sarasota County Sheriffs Office. Apparently the homeowner has been the victim of burglary recently so he was on alert, he was on edge, and as soon as he heard glass breaking he armed himself to protect himself and his 11-year-old child who was in the home.
Rose said Banes home had been broken into as recently as Sunday, but deputies arent sure if Yoder was involved.
Yoder, 22, has had several run-ins with the law; hed been arrested at least five times and spent several months in prison.
The homeowner is understandably shaken up. He posted a long message to his Facebook profile about the shooting saying that he did what he had to do and was not a bad dude. He is not currently facing charges as the shooting certainly appears to be self defense.
This is the 121st defensive gun use weve documented in the state Florida and the 1,324th defensive gun use weve documented overall.
The young father has saved so many people from the misery this man would have caused over his lifetime... what a blessing the thief is dead....
Probably 3/4ths of the violent/drug/firearm related crime in the county occurs here. I'm sure that makes me a racist for mentioning that.
Picture of the perp:
That’s the darkest Yoder I’ve ever seen.
I intensely dislike almost all “Rap,” but that one was funny! Thanks!
Another innocent SOB, Son of Barrack, killed by a white racist.
Now, Now........ Insult the Yoda you must not
The father made a good one out of a bad one. The world is a little better place today, thanks to the father’s actions.
Can we send the father a thank you note?
Dang Amish!!!
He was turning his life around...
By the way, every time I visit Florida, I'm impressed with what a crazy dangerous place it is. People live in nice homes with thugville literally around the corner.
Do NOT post why and how you killed anyone on FB. What an idiot.
DANG AMISH YODERS!!!

SARASOTA, Fla - With her hands cupped around her mouth and tears streaming down her face, Tara Wade struggles for words about her stepson, Calvin Yoder.
The 22-year-old was killed in an early morning shooting inside a home on the 2100 block of Ernie Shank Court.
Sarasota County Sheriff’s deputies say Yoder broke into the home, opened fire on Christopher Bane, 36, and his 11-year-old son. Bane reportedly armed himself and fatally shot Yoder.
“He was a good kid, loving, caring, very laid back,” explained Wade.
Wade told ABC Action News Yoder came to visit his parents at the Booker Street home Thursday night. Yoder lived in Bradenton.
According to Wade, shortly after Yoder arrived, his brother Leon also showed up.

Wade recalled her sons talking outside.
Leon convinced Yoder to go Bane’s house which was just a mile away, Wade said.
Wade claims her sons and bane were supposed to hangout.
“He didn’t want to go but because it was his brother he went any way,” Wade explained.
Neighbors confirmed to ABC Action News they spotted the brothers at the home.
