One Saturday afternoon last month, six second graders from P.S. 295 in Brooklyn got a head start on the fine-dining life when they visited the acclaimed French restaurant Daniel. There, five waiters presented them with a seven-course tasting menu (after the trio of canapés and an amuse-bouche, naturellement). The meal was overseen by the star chef and eponym himself, Daniel Boulud, whose goal was, he says, for the children to really discover a lot of flavor, a lot of layers, a lot of texture.

This is a delightful short video of kids being kids and portraying all the innocence that the world has not yet torn from their souls. I posted it because it offers a moment of respite from ISIS, Ebola and Obama.

Gourmet food for children?
If a world famous sous chef treats them to the delights of a seven course meal, whom am I to object?
They look happy enough.

I would only want to know if any taxpayer money paid for this.

Smoked Paprika Cured Hamachi (the most-foreign thing for them, Boulud says), Crispy Japanese Snapper (which they loved to see) and Wagyu Beef Rib-Eye (a big success)
At Daniel’s - an acclaimed French restaurant in New York. All sounds mouth watering. Washed down with non-alcoholic cocktail.

Did you by chance watch the video? The chef invited them. no no no - you obviously don't know how it works now on FR - most no longer read stories or watches videos, they merely do drive by snipes and snarks based on a headline or single picture.

Its not every day your second graders get to dine at a very elegant restaurant.
$200 is nothing at Daniel.

rib-eye tastes great but it doesn’t have to cost $200 or whatever

Restaurants are like that are another level of experience.
There’s the Food Network/Cooking Channel.
Puts “Chopped” and “Beat Bobby Flay” to shame. Its all about great flavors.

I notice they didn’t invite any Asian kids to participate. I’d say there was some discrimination going on here.

That chef didn’t make that. Someone else made it happen.

Personally, I think something like this is wasted on second graders but that is just my opinion and, as long as no taxpayer money was spent, its their business.
