CDC: 150 People Enter U.S. Per Day from Ebola-Stricken Countries--or 4,500 Per Month
CNSnews ^ | October 9, 2014 | Susan Jones

(CNSNews.com) - Both Homeland Security Secretary Secretary Jeh Johnson and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Tom Frieden said on Wednesday that 150 people a day arrive in the United States from Liberia, Sierra Leone or Guinea, the three West African countries that have been hit  by the Ebola virus.

..."The number of travelers is relatively small. We're talking about 150 per day," Frieden told a news conference on Wednesday. He announced that questionnaires and temperature checks will begin at five major U.S. airports that handle "95 percent of all the 150 travelers per day who arrive from these three countries"

One hundred-fifty passengers a day from West Africa works out to more than a thousand a week (1,050), 4,500 a month, and 54,750 a year

Given the 21-day incubation period for Ebola and the 150 people coming in each day, that means that at any given time there could be 21 x 150 people in the U.S. who could be asymptomatically incubating Ebola, and who are free to wander around the country.

...All passengers flying out of West African countries already undergo temperatures checks and answer questions about their contact with Ebola patients, but the screening doesn't always work, as the case of Thomas Eric Duncan proves

ONLY 150? Ok, that’s still a huge risk!

There’s certainly something at play there. I’ll grant you that. Racism could be the driving force.

Seems like a CDC game of Russian Roulette to me, but what do I know.

Global Ebola outbreak deaths exceed 4,000 - WHO
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-29577175

“The latest figures show there have been 4,024 confirmed or suspected deaths in the worst-affected West African nations of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

In total, there have been 8,399 confirmed or suspected cases, mostly in West Africa.”

Does this mean that 8,399 have it and of those 4,024 have died resulting in a 48% fatality rate?

I believe that’s it.

BTW, I don’t for a minute think the “official numbers” are completely accurate.

But even if the “real numbers” are 2x or 3x, it’s still just not wildly infectious.

In the 1918 flu epidemic, the second wave apparently started in September. By the end of October, over 20M Americans had contracted it, and by the end of October 650,000 Americans were dead.

People who have had family members die of Ebola are spending all their time and resources to escape from the places where Ebola is rampant and family members are dead in the streets. Family members living elsewhere are sending them money to help them escape the deadly areas.

Total number worldwide was around 40 or so million from what I have read.

Political Correctness Governs Ebola Response

RUSH: ...Now, let me turn to Ebola and the umbrella issue again of political correctness, which leads to incompetence, and there's another issue that is extremely or highly relevant here, and it's immigration.

It's illegal immigration and just who it is that is Patient Zero, how he got here and why he got here.

It turns out that there is a huge Liberian community of illegal immigrants in Dallas.  It's in the tens of thousands, I think.  I saw the number 10,000.

The liberals are never satisfied. All they care about is winning elections and ruling the United States. Every person you allow into the country is an extra vote. And according to them, everything they do is righteous, no matter how stupid or deadly their actions.

Those stats include those who died due it complications of the flu; i.e., they had other disease(s) and then got the flu. What are the stats on the completely healthy that contacted the flu and then died? As a completely healthy adult, what are my odds of surviving the flu (just the flu) vs. Ebola?

“Stop quantifying risk!”

“It’s unAmerican.”

Each of us has a greater chance of getting hit by lightening than getting Ebola and people are in a panic.

Numbers vary, but the more recent estimates are generally in the 50M to 100M range.

Even in Liberia, Ebola is not rampant as around 2000 of four million people have Ebola.

My numbers may have been slightly off, not in total, but per the time involved.

A little over 30M Americans contracted the flu, and about 650,000 died. That’s in total, not just in a couple of months. But those months were the most severe.

That’s not relevant. A person may have some other condition and then gets the flu and dies is a flu victim as they would still be alive if they had not had the flu.

Tens of thousands of Americans will be killed by the flu and the flu enters the US via travelers from Asia.

Unless you are in Liberia rolling around in Ebola blood tainted blood, the chances of you getting struck by lightening is much greater than getting Ebola.

Apparently it doesn’t matter if I’m in Liberia or Ohio. Ebola is here. At least, that’s what my obama voting pathologist cousin now says. I’m a very healthy adult. If I get Ebola, is it better than getting the flu?

What’s funny is that plenty of organizations other than the federal government have a better grasp on ebola than the federal government. Penn State has restricted travel. They have pushed to have foreign students live with other families until it is safe, at least they reaalize that a student who goes home, brings back ebola, then decimates the atudent population at Penn State. Why can’t the feds apply logic to the @)%-@) USA?!!!
