The Texas Ebola victim’s family is quarantined under armed guard tonight.
This was after family members would not comply with a request to not leave their apartment.

Four members of a family the U.S. Ebola patient was staying with were confined to their Texas home under armed guard Thursday as the circle of people possibly exposed to the virus widened, while Liberian authorities said they would prosecute the man for allegedly lying on an airport questionnaire.
The unusual confinement order was imposed after the family failed to comply with a request not to leave their apartment, according to Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins.
Texas State Health Commissioner David Lakey said the order would help ensure the four can be closely watched, including checking them for fevers over the next three weeks.
“We didn’t have the confidence we would have been able to monitor them the way that we needed to,” he said.
The family will not be allowed to receive visitors, officials said.
Authorities were also concerned about the cleanliness of the home and hired a cleaning service, Lakey said.

What is going on in America?
Several people who have been heavily exposed to a deadly communicable disease are being prevented from spreading contagion. It is a basic attempt to keep a deadly disease from spreading.
Would you like to eat at the restaurant or shop at the grocery store they visit if they refuse to stay in isolation during the incubation period?
This mandatory quarantine is in the best interest of both the individuals involved and the rest of us. They will receive quick medical intervention if they begin to experience symptoms. We have peace of mind knowing they’re not walking around Dallas spreading virus.
It’s not only lawful but common sense. Similar measures were used during the flu epidemic that began in 1918.
Locking them in with the contagion is hardly stopping the spread.

I just have to put myself in this woman’s situation.
My husband/x-husband/partner/whatever was just admitted to the hospital with one of the deadliest diseases known to man. For four days, he infected everything in our apartment. It took a call from the nephew to get the hospital to actually help.
Then, the government is telling me to lock myself in the infected apartment WITH MY 13 YEAR OLD CHILD, without cleaning it, without supplies or haz-mat suits, without food, or anything.
And nobody is bringing us food.
A SANDWICH. A freaking sandwich for each person was brought *yesterday*.
And even if there was food, I’d want to throw out ANYTHING that was still in that environment for fear that it could be contaminated before I ingested it or gave it to my child. There are bags of dirty linens and nobody is removing the garbage.
I don’t know if anyone could *make* me go back into that unclean environment with my child, let alone lock us in there. I’d happily quarantine ourselves anywhere BUT that apartment.
If this is how the UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT manages a tiny quarantine with FOUR individuals in one apartment, then we’re in serious trouble.
But here’s the other thing. Every health official in the country has gone on the record over and over again that there is NO DANGER of exposure unless a person is symptomatic.
How sure are they of that?

You couldn’t *make* me go back in there. I’ll quarantine myself and my family without protest... in a clean environment.
One case and look at what is happening.
