I just have to put myself in this woman’s situation.

My husband/x-husband/partner/whatever was just admitted to the hospital with one of the deadliest diseases known to man. For four days, he infected everything in our apartment. It took a call from the nephew to get the hospital to actually help.

Then, the government is telling me to lock myself in the infected apartment WITH MY 13 YEAR OLD CHILD, without cleaning it, without supplies or haz-mat suits, without food, or anything.

And nobody is bringing us food.

A SANDWICH. A freaking sandwich for each person was brought *yesterday*.

And even if there was food, I’d want to throw out ANYTHING that was still in that environment for fear that it could be contaminated before I ingested it or gave it to my child. There are bags of dirty linens and nobody is removing the garbage.

I don’t know if anyone could *make* me go back into that unclean environment with my child, let alone lock us in there. I’d happily quarantine ourselves anywhere BUT that apartment.

If this is how the UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT manages a tiny quarantine with FOUR individuals in one apartment, then we’re in serious trouble.

But here’s the other thing. Every health official in the country has gone on the record over and over again that there is NO DANGER of exposure unless a person is symptomatic.

How sure are they of that?

This is being handled very poorly.

Nobody is stopping you from delivering them sandwiches.

I have no sympathy for this woman. It was her decision to bring a relative from Liberia to potentially expose her children to Ebola. I feel sorry for the children, but no sympathy from me if she contracts Ebola.
And I am sure everyone in that apartment will get Ebola.
She should have thought of her children before this, and now she could die.And so could her children.
And to top it off, instead of pleading for food and cleaning supplies, she is trying to escape- potentially infecting other people.
i have nothing but contempt for her and her brother. her brother is facing arrest in Liberia due to his lying to get here.
No sympathy from me at all.
She could croak, I don’t care.

She’s supposed to be his “partner”, but she has a job over here. So I take it she was here and he flew over to be with her? But instead of flying straight from Ghana, where he was living, he chose to stop back in Liberia and expose himself to Ebola before lying in order to get onto a flight over here.

She and the kids have already likely been about as exposed to the virus as they can be, and I don’t have much sympathy for her.

But of course you’re right, we couldn’t be bungling the whole situation much more than we are. The UN is at least being more honest than Obama by pointing out that this whole thing could be completely out of control with an unfavorable mutation.

Even the hyper-PC UK and Kenya have had the good sense to stop flights from the region. We should be screaming for both Obama and our airlines to come to their senses and do the same.

Marie, you’re right. I’d be livid if I was forced to stay at ground zero. That’s almost guaranteeing that I and my fellow detainees would catch the disease.

What is important to note is that no one seems to be using the CDC / FEMA playbook on how to handle something that was entirely predictable. If they can’t do it right for one family, what happens if there is a serious outbreak and the responders are overwhelmed?

There should be ZERO confidence that ZERO has a plan and is ready to execute. It’s the typical “we need to study it” response for which this administration is famous. They are making it up as they go.
