The sun might rise in the West, too. Hardly likely, but it could.

Everyone talks about the magnetic field but nobody does anything about it.
To: Jack Hydrazine; cogitator
It’s possible: The magnetic poles have been racing from south of Hudson’s Bay up past the north coast of Canada towards the Russian shore. Southern pole moving as well, but less smoothly - more irregularly. Magnetic strength is going down as well. Which it has before EVERY magnetic pole swap previously.
With the Global Warming “Pause” at 18 years with NO temperature increase, and solar cycle 24 at its “peak” - but lower than ANY recent solar cycle?

The headline seems to be a tad inaccurate. There is no flip but apparently a gradual change.

When it goes a certain distance, it may start to move more quickly. Some have estimated that at some point in its travel, magnetic north may move 53 degrees within one year. The really cool thing is that as the magnetic field moves more quickly, so does the outer core (seismic and volcanic fun for sure). Something else cool... The NOAA not long ago revised quite a bit of previously stored data to show less movement and lack of acceleration. It is accelerating.
