Poll: 72 Percent Of Americans Think Ground Troops Will Be Deployed Against ISIS

Will America put boots on the ground in Iraq and Syria? Well, some are already there serving as military advisers, but in terms of divisions of ground troops being deployed; 72 percent of Americans think this will happen if we continue to engage ISIS.

The figure comes from a NBC poll, which also noted “45 percent are in favor of using them if military commanders think they’re the best way to defeat the ISIS army, while 37 percent are opposed.”

Right now, the European Union estimated that more than 3,000 Europeans have flocked to the Middle East to fight for ISIS; there are about 12 Americans fighting with them amongst their ranks.

It costs us about $7.5-10 million a day fighting ISIS, but that number could change.

Right now, President Obama is already limiting his options be refusing to consider any military plans that requires ground troops. It’s a politically toxic for Democrats, whose base is still furious over our invasion in 2003.

Regardless, as George Will aptly noted, wars are seldom won by airpower alone–and given the caveats Europeans have regarding their own armed forces; it’s save to assume that we will be the ones providing ground troops if and when the time comes.

Strategically, Iraq is more palatable to Americans; we just need to push ISIS out of the country. This would not be like 2003, where we mobilized 200,000+ troops for Iraq, but Syria is an entirely different animal.

George Will: Airpower doesn't win wars; Wars are won when ground is occupied by men with guns

They won't be, because Obola is on the side of ISIL/ISIS/al Qaeda/Taliban.

They are all the same thing. We just have to pretend that Obola vanquished AQ or we are racist.

We were recently told that we will be building 3 new bases in the area, to replace the ones Dumbo effectively surrendered to ISIS. I would assume that they would be to house troops....

We will, but not before a heavy price is already paid.

That's most-assuredly true, but also The Won doesn't want to be referred to as "Chimpy McBushitler's Third Term".

I am opposed to ground troops mainly because obama’s Rules Of Engagement render all efforts ineffective, the definition of insanity (doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result) continues to be in play.

Either we are all in to win, or we are all out, that’s my position, I desperately would like to stop the persecution of Christians but those same ROE, again stringently limits effectiveness, and may worsen their situation if that is possible.

I do have ideas on how to bring significant relief to Christians, but there is no will to implement such, so I will spare you the details, besides I have already written more words than most are willing to read.

There are already troops in Iraq. Obama is a liar and simply will not acknowledge them as “troops”.

Therein lies the problem. We don't NEED to WIN a WAR.

We need to exterminate a "religion" and every single one of its followers.

Something that may be realized long after I've gone to the other side.

I notice she included al Nasra in there.

Good for her.

The Lebanese should be the only ones living in Southern Lebanon. Outside rabble-rousers should be sent directly to hell.

There they can have their 95 year old virgins...

“There are already troops in Iraq”

That is true. I was trying to add the numbers up the other day and it was close to 1500.

Seems about right. We also have massive amounts of contractors headed over, too. It seems most of everything that was in A’stan is headed to Iraq now.

The Middle East is where great nations go to die. IE: Britain, USSR, USA etc. It is a culture for all practical purposes of sub-humans living in the 7th century and unwilling to progress beyond camels and tribal rivalries. “The Howeitat do not carry water”. Remember that line from Lawrence of Arabia? Those words summarized problems today as they did then. Tribalism is the antithesis of modern government. In many respects it looks like Obama is trying to recreate a bunch of tribal entities here in America, Whites, Blacks, Rich, Middle Class, Poor, Hispanic, Elite, Religious, Atheists etc. etc.

Better be prepared to stay there for at least twenty years once we go in.

That was the mistake we made last time in Iraq. You break it, you bought it.

We have enough hydrocarbon resources here in the US. We could easily do without that cesspool, and we should.
