Chilling images have been captured of a woman hiding on her roof, cowering with fear, unable to see a masked intruder approaching her from behind.
The Californian woman climbed out of her second-storey bedroom window early in the morning on Wednesday to hide from a man who broke into her home in Venice Beach, near Los Angeles.
"Once I saw him in the house, I knew that we both couldn't be there," Melora Rivera told CBS news. "I knew that I didn't want to have a confrontation with him of any sort, you know, not knowing what his intention was." She hid under a window eave, wearing just the flannel shirt she had been sleeping in, and called the police. A number of policemen arrived within minutes but were reportedly unsure whether Ms Rivera, perched on the roof, was herself the burglar.
"It was my biggest fear was that he was going to be forced by the cops to come hide in basically the same place I was hiding," Ms Rivera said.
A woman who took photos as the drama unfolded told NBC: "I'm zooming in and I'm snapping pictures of her - she's like on the phone - and then this head pops up from the other side of the roof behind her, this figure that was so scary."
The terrifying images of the incident have since gone viral on social media.
Los Angeles resident Melora Rivera had a role in the 2012 Whitney Houston film Sparkle.
The alleged intruder, identified as Christian Hicks, was taken into custody on suspicion of burglary.
This is what the anti-second-amendment lobby wants for everyone in America.
This picture fills them with delight.
She would do well to buy herself a nice 1911. Oh wait - it’s California, so she probably would be breaking several laws...
When adjusted for population, a white person is 200 times more likely to be assaulted by a Black than vice versa.
FBI stats
I’d tell her to buy a .38, then upgrade to .357 Mag when she gets comfortable with it.
“Once I saw him in the house, I knew that we both couldn’t be there,”
That’s the quote of the day, right there.
Yet another example of why every woman needs a gun and training on how to use it.
The only effect of gun control laws is to create a large supply of helpless victims.
“not knowing what his intention was.”
It’s bad intent. Shoot him.
And didn’t six cops draw down on her??
What a cesspit our nation has become...
Too bad she wasn’t armed. That bad guy looks like he means to find and kill her.
That guy on my computer screen looks sub human.
One of the best anti gun control pictures I have seen.
It is. It's lethal.
That's why it's going to be said to be a PhotoShopped fake before tomorrow's sunrise.
In fact, that's how most people are going to hear about it. "Photoshopped fake image makes rounds on internet, millions of racists fooled."
LOL - I was getting a key copied in a locksmith store and all the sales posters for security systems had the obligatory white guy burglar.
