WASHINGTON -- Conservatives are losing ground on the fight to keep marijuana illegal, a Republican congressman warned in dire terms at the Values Voter Summit.
During a conference mostly focused on religious liberty, abolishing the IRS and promoting small government, Rep. John Fleming (R-La.) delivered a full speech on the ills of decriminalizing and legalizing marijuana.
Fleming, a medical doctor, warned of a "growing acceptance" of marijuana -- a fact hard to deny, considering public opinion and state laws. Colorado and Washington state have legalized recreational marijuana, and 23 states and the District of Columbia have allowed the substance for medical use.

Congratulations!
After 57 posts you're the first to go ad hominem.
Instead of arguing the idea you attack the man and hope that proves something.
It's made them less available to minors than pot.
The Harvard / Northwestern study showed significant brain changes in casual users; thats not something your pop psychologists at Psychology Today
No, the Scripps Research Institute
demonstrated in alcohol users
I'll bet you don't want your minor kids drinking even "casually."
The point remains that young people report that they can get pot (which is illegal for all, except in a few states) more easily than beer or cigarettes (which are legal for adults).
Yep, CA is growing their loser base with that crud.
Think of the chil’run. At least as long it was illegal, in most families, it wasn’t being smoked in front of your kids at the family reunion.
I’m not going ad hominem, I’m doing guilt by association. You changed the subject on your own thread so just be the kettle calling the pot black. So to speak,
Legalize everything!
The Principle of Darwin will eventuay rid us of those who are stupid enough to vote for people like obola.
If you have a solution that keeps potheads off the road, I’m all in.
But if you don’t, and you don’t IMO, I’d rather the drug money not go to the cartels.
“Our nation has a strong proclivity toward redefining “illicit”. ”
Agreed.
Perhaps. I am betting not due to pot though. The fact is many of the fellows I ran around with in the ‘70s are dead. Mostly suicides. Now, we all smoked our weed, really it was pretty much universal for my generation in my town, because it was easy to grow anywhere around and practically free. But my old stomping grounds were pretty much ground zero for meth too, and THAT is what crazed them and ultimately killed them, the ones who went to that. But I don’t know a single person who died from any behavior related to smoking pot.
Darwin’s dead, I’m still here, it didn’t work out.
The beer i’m enjoying while reading your post is very tasty.
“If you have a solution that keeps potheads off the road, Im all in.”
What’s the difference between a drunk driver & a stoned driver?
A drunk driver will blow right past a stop sign, while a stoned driver will sit & wait for it to turn green.
;^)
If you’re on this site, odds are you aren’t stupid enough to vote for a person like obola.
The support for dope by supposed conservatives and inability to think rationally and logically concerning marijuana’s harm, which is not physical but mental and/or spiritual, is a bad bad sign.
The argument or belief that alcohol has caused more deaths than dope therefore it is worse is a liberal world view.
“The teen age Obama brain was shaped by heavy use of marijuana; the congressman is dead on.”
Boom.
You get it. And not just teen age, but in to twenties.
And this goes for millions of liberal opinion leaders and influential people.
It is such that to be effected by dope head thought, which is liberal and Marxist, many need never to have even smoked it, so much do the dope head views permeate society now.
There’s really no hope if people at this web site can’t understand this and sound like Tim Leary or Bill Ayers on the issue.
Impaired is impaired, pot or whiskey. Talk to a stoner, talk to a drunk. Different, but both impaired. Dealing with some stoner 20-somethings, who love to talk about ‘deep’ stuff, for hours on end. OMG, someone stick a cattle prod against my forehead, please!
“Wake up and smell the jihad!”
Smoke the jihad,,,, if you get my meaning,,,,,,,........

Those two studies used 20 people to conclude nothing. Now 20 is an interesting number that is the number of ways alcohol damages the human body including the brain, number 20 is death, 6 others can cause death. Didn’t hear your call to outlaw alcohol which has been well established as detrimental to ones health in 20 ways.
You did manage to get a “for the children’s sake” in though. While I agree with you on that, I note you don’t apply that same standard to alcohol or tobacco.
Getting high on cannabis is dumb but not any more dumb than getting high (intoxicated) on alcohol. Alcohol is by far a more serious health risk and costs the taxpayers billions because it is consumed. I don’t want to make anyone a criminal because they smoke a plant any more than I want to make anyone a criminal because they drink a plant. Plus there are medical uses from cannabis plant that are to beneficial to be without.
Nope this, Boehner and McConnell along with their toadies, is why. The Republican elite has no message, nothing except, we are not them.
