UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama said on Wednesday that too many Israelis were ready to abandon a bid for peace in the region and, in a departure from his prepared remarks, added that this was something Israelis should think about.

"The violence engulfing the region today has made too many Israelis ready to abandon the hard work of peace," Obama told the United Nations General Assembly during a 38-minute speech addressing many of the world's problems.
Then, departing from printed remarks made available to reporters beforehand, Obama added: "And thats something worthy of reflection within Israel."
"Because lets be clear: the status quo in the West Bank and Gaza is not sustainable. We cannot afford to turn away from this effort not when rockets are fired at innocent Israelis, or the lives of so many Palestinian children are taken from us in Gaza," Obama said, speaking a week before he is due to host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House.
His comments followed a seven-week Gaza war between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas that ended in late August with an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire.

Israel doesn’t abandon peace. Israel creates peace.
The only peace in the middle east is the peace within Israel’s well guarded borders. If you want more peace, expand and extend those borders. It is the only thing that will work.
He’s really saying “ there’s not enough Count Baltars in Israel “
My comment was directed at Zero, not you.
Being a Woman, one of the criteria that i judge countries and regions by is how they treat women.
Israel stands out heads and shoulders above every other single country in the middle east concerning respect for women, protection of their women, equality under the law of their women and opportunity for women in the civil society.
This is going to offend a lot of libs but I am going to say it...
“How a country treats the weakest among them is how civilized a country is”
Not saying that women are “weaklings” by any stretch, (my mom is tough as nails). But look at the countries of the world and how they treat their children, especially their girls and their elderly, especially their elderly women, their infirm and disabled people as well, and you have a good measure on how civilized they actually are.
Until the countries surrounding Israel start treating their women better they will never get any sympathy from me about how supposedly “bad” Israel is.
In a 1,000 years if they have dug themselves out from their 7th century mindsets and hovels, maybe then we can see. But until then , Israel all the way baby!
[ What was Mohamar Gaddafis reply to that? ]

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - U.S. President Franklin Delano Rosevelt said on Wednesday that too many Englishmen were ready to abandon a bid for peace in the region and, in a departure from his prepared remarks, added that this was something Englishmen should think about.
“The violence engulfing the region today has made too many Englishmen ready to abandon the hard work of peace,” Rosevelt told the United Nations General Assembly during a 38-minute speech addressing many of the world’s problems.
Then, departing from printed remarks made available to reporters beforehand, Rosevelt added: “And thats something worthy of reflection within the United Kingdom.”
“Because lets be clear: the status quo in the Sudeten Land and Poland is not sustainable. We cannot afford to turn away from this effort not when V-2 rockets are fired at innocent Englishmen, or the lives of so many German children are taken from us in Germany,” Rosevelt said, speaking a week before he is due to host Britain’s Prime Minister Winston Churchill at the White House.
His comments followed a seven-week Germany war between United Kingdom and the German militant group the national Socialists that ended in late August with an French-brokered ceasefire.
Obummer is not even as good as FDR was as bad as FDR WAS!!!
Bingo! That leapt right out at me, too. "Palestinians" R Us.
Yeah, the reason there is no peace in the middle east is those bloodthirsty Jews. /s
Amen
Qahdahfi was a bleeding heart...
For everything there is a time, and when the other side wants to kill every citizen in your country is not the time for peace.
I don’t think they’re against peace so much as they are against being peaced on.
Israel has been desperately trying to make peace with the koranimals for 67 years. They made compromises and truces after every attack by the arab nations which were attempts to annihilate every Jew. They gave back the entire Sinai Peninsula, the Gaza Strip, they gave the Palestinians internal control of their cities and towns on the West Bank, they absorbed hundreds of thousands of refugees thrown out of the Arab countries, they endure today continuous economic, social, military and terror warfare. And this Ahole in Chief says too many of them are ready to give up on peace?!?! I’m totally shocked that ANY Israeli is interested in peace with the koranimals after what they experienced and convinced that those who still are are mentally diseased liberals (but I repeat myself), which Israel is still infested with.
I DESPISE HUSSEIN WHATHISNAME OBOLA!!!
Better still, as he’s such a consummate peacemaker, he should take his Roman columns there and dazzle them with the presence of his very being. After all, he aspires to be Caliph. Surely they’d welcome him.
What is your interpretation of what that means? Do you think Obama will be broken by another world leader?
