The search area in the manhunt for accused cop-killer Eric Frein is narrowing amid a wave of "credible" tips, authorities said Monday. "I do believe we are close to him at this point," Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens said, confirming that search teams were focusing on an area in northern Monroe County near the border of Pike County.
Frein, 31, is accused of fatally shooting Cpl. Bryon Dickson and critically wounding Trooper Alex Douglass in a Sept. 12 ambush on the Blooming Grove barracks that landed him on the FBI's most-wanted list. Police believe he has been hiding out in the woods for 10 days, armed with at least one high-powered rifle, bent on assassinating law-enforcement officers as part of a longstanding grudge.
Some schools have been closed and local residents are afraid to leave their homes, even though investigators believe Frein is only gunning for cops. "The night of the incident...he had the opportunity to shoot civilians at the Blooming Grove barracks so it is our conclusion he is aimed totally at police officers," Gov. Tom Corbett said.

He is nowhere near where they found his weapon and the mags. This find keeps police looking in the wrong area while he is miles away retrieving his other stashed weapons, ammo and survival food supplies. He is smart and knows the area.
I hope they are “closing in”. Heard this years ago when my wife and I visited Randolph County in NC, where the killer Randolph was supposed to be hiding out. He could have been there since it was his territory, but it took almost 5 years before he was caught raiding a trash dumpster in some small town.
Guys like Randolph and Fren are “survivalists”, be they hunters or wackjobs. THey know the area, often better than most law enforcement people so they have an advantage in preparing to live off the land or in isolated but well stocked huts/cabins, for a long time.
Still, I hope the cops kill Fren. No use putting him in jail. Just a waste of the taxpayers’ money.

Maybe so but I’d prefer they take him alive so at least we can learn in a court of law what this was all about. Society needs to know what this was about.
This guy did have this planned pretty well.
I wonder what the real story is behind this. What ticked this guy off? I read where he had plenty of opportunity to shoot regular people but he didn’t. So it’s not like he’s your typical random violent nut-job. He is or was focused strictly on one or two law enforcement guys.
Hypothetically, if your mother, wife and daughter were raped and murdered by illegal immigrants, would the police make the same effort to apprehend the perps.
If not why not? We’re all Americans who should be treated equally. Isn’t that what they all say?

308 is 7.62x51mm. AK 47 is 7.62x39. Same diameter bullet, longer case and heavier bullet on 308. So you could say they found a .308. I hope the press is not that stupid, oh wait......
I’m getting reports of Blackhawk helicopters in the air up over that area for the last couple of days, so they’ve certainly pulled all the stops in this search effort.
I hope not. I don’t want him to die so quickly. I hope he lives in prison, or is forced to not die via life support for 60 or more years.
