For the past few weeks, as Scotland debated the wisdom of independence, Reuters has been asking Americans how they would feel about declaring independence today, not from the United Kingdom, but from the mother country they left England to create. The exact wording of the question was, Do you support or oppose the idea of your state peacefully withdrawing from the United States of America and the federal government?

Those are not insignificant numbers.
Why?
Cause this federal gub mint is pathetic.Just shoving crappola down every ones throat thinking they know what is best for everyone on every damned subject.
Throw in the fact that they force me to do things against my Faith and screw em.
F- em
The govt’s only response would be more threats, spying, detentions, etc thus accelerating the demise of the central govt.
I’m “down for the struggle” with “skin in the game.” I’m tired of “openly gay” maggots from the northeast and Caulifphonya telling me how I’ve got to live here in Arizona. It’s none of their damn business.
I’d rather kick out DC and any state who wants to go with them is free to go.
I bet it is a near majority in Texas.
One in four Americans want their state to secede from the U.S., but why?
Barack Obama, not once but twice!
!7 Trillion Dollars in debt.
Obamacare.
Forcing the Homosexual agenda in to our lives and schools.
and several dozen other good reasons.
This is one of those meaningless poll questions, like “Do you think the country is headed in the right direction?”
It lumps together people who want out for exactly opposite reasons.
There isn’t enough room anywhere for me and Mikey Bloomberg, someone has to go!
“Im tired of openly gay maggots from the northeast and Caulifphonya telling me how Ive got to live here in Arizona.”
If that pisses you off, imagine how those of us in CA who are sane feel! You in AZ are lucky that the balance of power has yet to shift, but it’s going to eventually there too. The Grijalva’s and the other RATs you have in AZ are just as pernicious as the one’s we have here. In truth, the “progressives” are on the move around the country just like the muzzies. The only difference between the two is that the “progs” aren’t into beheading, yet! But not to worry, Zeke Emmanuel will come up with an “alternative” to try and see those of us who disagree with his “75 and out” strategy have to “comply.”
I’d be happy if PA wanted to secede, but given that the state is dominated by leftists and unions, there’s no way this state would secede.
For a start, I’d be happy to secede from NYC & environs ....
Is there even a democratic mechanism for allowing this? The Feds back in 1861 didn’t think so.
We just want to see what life is like without the federal government’s boot on our necks.
One in Four Americans Wants His State to Secede from the U.S., but Why?
It's possible that's not be the optimal wording. A lot of people probably feel like "If I and people like me are the ones in the right, why should we have to be the ones to go it alone as a single state? OUR vision is the one more in keeping with that of the founding fathers. WE should he the ones to keep the nation!" so they might be more likely to answer in the affirmative a question about expelling other states rather than their own seceding.
Minnesota couldn’t possibly secede from the union, it is in too deep. Once gov’t cut funding, it’d curl up into the fetal position and suck its thumb.
