In the Republican primary for U.S. Senate, North Carolina House Speaker Thom Tillis (R), wasn't exactly tea partiers' preferred candidate. But now some tea party organizations seem to be giving the nominee a quiet boost or at least are still set on bashing Sen. Kay Hagan (D-NC).
On Wednesday the Tea Party Express sent out an email calling on supporters to help "Defeat Harry Reid's Sinister Six." Hagan was listed alongside Sens. Mark Begich (D-AK), Mary Landrieu (D-LA), Al Franken (D-MN), Mark Pryor (D-AR), and Rep. Bruce Braley (D-IA), the Democratic Senate candidate in his state. The Republican primaries in those states have been relatively mild with comparatively less or even no fighting between establishment and tea-party aligned candidates. North Carolina, by contrast, was one of the most heated Republican primaries in the 2014 cycle.
A day earlier the Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund sent out a similar fundraising email targeting just Hagan.
"Barack Obama and his liberal Democrat allies are pouring money and campaign resources into North Carolina like crazy," Tea Party Patriots Chairman Jenny Beth Martin wrote in the email. "They are desperate to save leftist Senator Kay Hagan. Tea Party volunteers in North Carolina need our help to win this critical Senate seat."
Establishment-backed Tillis defeated Dr. Greg Brannon, another candidate in the primary, who was actually the favorite of the insurgent tea party wing of the Republican party.
In the general election the race has managed to stay competitive. The TPM Polltracker average currently gives her a 4.7 point lead over Tillis.
Rooting for an establishment candidate isn't ideal, but trying to get supporters to defeat Hagan is better than the alternative, Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund communications director Kevin Broughton told TPM.

and she (so by extension you) will be voting for Harry Reid.
Is anyone else tired of the same shtick every 2 years? “Vote Republican or the Democrats are gonna get you!”, and then you have to hold your nose and accept the politico hand-picked by the party bosses. And when someone threatens that sweet set-up a la Chris McDaniel in Miss. those “leaders” will not only ally themselves with their brothers-under-the-skin Democrats, they will use the SAME tactics we’ve come to expect from the left, like flooding the Rep. primary with Dem. voters, calling fellow Republicans racists, etc.
The GOP has been infected by the rot of corrupt power-hungry individuals, and the only cure is amputation. Refuse to re-elect those who care more about keeping their jobs than doing their jobs. It may hurt for 2 years, but if we continue on our present course there may not be a real GOP in the future, just a collection of pretenders who wallow in their offices while getting their marching orders from the other side. Real close to what we have right now, isn’t it?...
Just so long as NOT ONE PENNY NOR ONE SECOND of effort is wasted on McConnell or Cochran.
Well said! Amen!
Good for you. We all need to send a message to the GOPe that if you start a fight with us, we're gonna finish it.
McConnell needs to go, even if we have to put up with a Democrat. We need to make an example out of him.
‘vote enmasse against any and all Democrats’
You’ve hit the nail on that head!
But voting for RINOS. No!
They just get my vote, and no support of any kind, as a benefit of my reflexive hatred for demonrats.
The republican party is dying. The sooner the better they are replaced, as they did the Whigs before them, the better.
This is easy. McConnell is a back stabber. It is far more important to get rid of traitors than it is to worry about enemies.
McConnell never does anything to advance our principles anyway. At best he is just a seat warmer. We won't be able to tell much difference if the seat is taken by a Democrat, but it is highly important that those seen as deliberately opposing Tea Party Reforms are destroyed.
McConnell chose this fight, now he needs to get taken out. The Tea Party was trod on, and now it needs to bite.
McConnell isn't blocking any of Obama's Judicial appointees. How will a Democrat's vote be any different?
With enemies like McConnell, who needs friends?
This isn't about Harry Reid. This is about destroying traitors. McConnell is a traitor. If he thought having a Democrat replace him was such a bad thing, he shouldn't have decided to be a traitor.
Remember what McConnell paid for in Mississippi. He tarnished the entire Tea Party nation wide with those false accusations.
I agree....the RINOs must go!!! But....first...Obama and the Democrat Party must go!!! Do you know why Scotland voted to stay within Great Britain by a 400,000 vote margin? For only one reason....the majority of Scots realized that uncontolled socialism by the Scotland, left-wing lunatics would slowly kill the new country!!!
Independence for Scotland would have been a positive step, but with heavy dependence on oil revenues and growing socialism costs and services, “independent” Scotland would have failed a few years down the road!!! The wisdom and pragmatic view of reality by the majority fo Scots prevailed!!! Socialism, stinks...and so does Obama, and his Obamabot anti-American, Democrat party!!! Vote to destroy the Democrat Party politically, this coming November!!!
I have been, each election since Bush the elder's first election.
The short term gain strategy of voting for lesser evil to keep a greater evil away from power has taken us to the same place.
Each election the same as the one before, the same choices, the same arguments and the same results.
And we're just distracted enough or just forgetful enough or just stupid enough to keep repeating and repeating the cycle.
We're stuck in a loop and given just enough cheese to keep it spinning and just enough fear to not let it stop.
I disagree. Allowing someone to get away with portraying you as "RACIST!!!" makes the conservative movement weaker. If McConnell gets away with it this election cycle, it will encourage others to use the same tactic in the next election cycle. Instead of having one race where the Tea Party is being accused of Racism, we will have a dozen.
How will that improve our chances of reforming the government?
It won't. By taking out someone who attempted that tactic, we send a message that we are a force not to be trifled with. By actually cutting off a head, and demonstrating that we are willing to do so, we convince others that we are determined, and will not shirk our responsibility. When you step on us, we bite.
Proving we bite makes people respect us, and that gives us far more political strength than rolling over for more such abuse.
No. We must destroy anyone opposed to reform, and most especially those who undermine us from our own side. Traitors are far more dangerous than enemies. We cannot suffer a traitor to remain in a position to hurt us.
Well said. Exactly.
Each election the same as the one before, the same choices, the same arguments and the same results.

I will point out the successful tactic long used by the NRA. They query candidates as to whether or not they support gun rights. If the Republican says "no" or seems squeamish, they back the Democrat. If the Democrat says "no" or seems squeamish, they back the Republican.
Over time, they have managed to get majorities of both parties to support their principles. As unpleasant as it is, voting for the Democrat is sometimes necessary because it is the only whip you can apply to the Republicans, and sometimes they badly need some whipping.
Excellent! If I could, I would be voting against McConnell as well. He's got to go, at all costs.
The problem is, this is NOT going to happen. Vote in all the RINO's you want, and they will do NOTHING to stop oblala. So, what good does it do to vote for the RINO? Might as well have the enemy you know out front where you can see them rather than voting for the "friend" that's going to stab you in the back their first day in office.
I understand your point, but in terms of responses to this particular post, you were outvoted 4:1 in terms of favorable vs. unfavorable.
Now it’s 5:1.
