Although the overall Consumer Price Index dropped by 0.2 percent in August, the price index for food rose 0.2 percent, with the average price for a pound of ground beef rising to $4.013 per pound--the first time it has ever topped $4 per pound.
In July, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average price for a pound of ground beef had been $3.884 per pound—which was the record price up to that point. From July to August, the average price jumped 12.9 cents, an increase of 3.3 percent in one month.

Butter in an Aldi today was $3.49. I think it was about $2.29 a year ago.

Used to be $1.99/lb for hamburger. You could find it on sale from time to time for .99 cents/lb, and sometimes even .79 cents/lb. Now, $1.99 is the sale price

Not even a year ago, I could get a gallon for $2.79. Now it's $3.49 and rising. $2.79 is the new sale price.

I;m so pissed off when I stand in line checking out after food shopping and some big woman has 2 carts full of food like steaks , fish, and food which I would love to afford and does not spend one dime of her money , because I;m paying for her welfare food while I and my family have to go without.

We have to eat pasta, pasta , more pasta or cheap food and they have Shrimp, steaks, Tuna fish and come 4th July they have all the expensive burgers while we get the cheap store brand.
Oh yes and they have the latest phone, the nails manicured, hair done over, and nice jewelry , new car and my family goes without because my working money is taken off me to give to them who sit on their ass .

Those on the left are wee weeing their pants that Big Beef is being taken out by high prices. They have been wanting the beef industry gone for years. The vegetarian diet craze is the result of their war on beef. They see it as a health menace just like tobacco. However, that’s a cover for their desire to eliminate an avenue of private enterprise from the individual.
Also worth noting is that the USDA requires anything labeled "ground beef patties" to include muscle meat from the entire cow. "Beef patties" on the other hand can be different proportions. Oftentimes this will be cheek meat, tongue and other less desirable cuts.

Yes, soon there will be some state of emergency declared to either increase all the EBT allocations, or some other type of under-the-table funding provided through a new government agency, intended to trick us into not realizing that we are paying more for “the poor” to eat.
I, for one, would love to see the statistics about how many children are receiving free 2-3 meals per day at school, plus taking home a backpack full of food on the weekends, for whom the parent/s is/are receiving EBT benefits calculated based on feeding the children three meals per day.
