The House Select Committee on Benghazi hears testimony from Homeland Security and Secret Service officials on the implementation of the Accountability Boards recommendations following the 2012 attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi.
They are already trying to destroy their credibility. However, it is being overly dramatic to say their lives are in danger.
I am. Just had to rant first.
Westmorland seems to be asking some good questions.
Did you get the sense that Westmoreland hit a thorny topic with Starr when he asked if security gets a contract if they had been dismissed on a previous mission?
It wasn’t anything Starr said - it was the look on his face.
I heard from the author of Dark Force that the local brigade hired to protect Benghazi was paid off to let the attackers in.
Agree. You start at the bottom nailing down the facts and then work your way up to the top. I trust Gowdy to do a good job. So far very little politics involved in this hearing, which is good. It will get more politically as we get over the target.
You put my thoughts in very concise words - thank you :-)
I have the utmost respect for Rep Gowdy and I trust his instincts, skills and previous experience.
Listen to Kiel who is not operating under the same kind of constraints that Greg Starr is. Greg has to be the Department guy. I notice that Kiel, whom I don’t know personally, is far more aggressive and angry. They should be questioning him more.

She’s already had her computers hacked. I definitely believe this admin is fully capable of removing obstacles to their agenda.
One thing that’s strange is all the discussion of embassy security when Stevens wasn’t at the embassy: he was at a house rented out to State by a local landlord.
It is being called a Consulate, but it was not hardened or protected like an embassy is. The Brits had a ‘consulate’ right up the road from ours and they abandoned it a month or so earlier due to intel.
It is always a sensitive issue as to who gets these contracts. There may be some questions about how this particular contractor was selected.
Bkmk as well
Sleazy Cummings is the face of a majority of Marylanders. They deserve the filth he is.
Could be. You can never really depend on the local guards who don’t have the same level of commitment about risking their lives to protect Americans. However, someone like Blackwater was a different case. They are more expensive but certainly better qualified. They present their own problems that involve diplomatic immunity and misconduct.
I disagree with this statement. FNC is the ONLY station that has kept this at the forefront. As a matter of fact they’ve had wall to wall coverage on Benghazi and have done true journalism asking the fought questions continuing to press the truth out of this administration.
I still go back to the position that we should never have been there in Benghazi because the host government could not be relied on for protection.
Yes very experienced.
In Dark Force the author makes the case that the Iranians planned and conducted the attack. They bribed the locals to let them in.
They wanted to stop missiles from getting delivered to Turkey and into the rebels in Syria.
Jim Jordan is on it!
I heard from the author of Dark Force that the local brigade hired to protect Benghazi was paid off to let the attackers in.
Then the attackers noticed they were being painted by a targeting laser.
