A NY SAFE Act investigation has begun at a business in a neighboring county. The Albion Gun Shop, located on Hamilton St. in the Town of Albion in Orleans County, has received a "request" from the New York State Police for records of all persons who have purchased a bullet button AR-15 from the store since the SAFE Act was passed and signed into law in January of 2013,
A bullet button AR-15 is a rifle that has been modified with a special feature that makes a semiautomatic rifle's magazine permanent, or not detachable without a special tool.
The NY SAFE Act makes detachable magazines on a semiautomatic rifle illegal for purchase after the SAFE Act passed, as well as required for registration as of April 2014 if purchased before the SAFE Act passed.
The state police can demand access to these records anytime, and no warrant is necessary.
According to Joseph F. Palumbo, the gun shop owner, he was given 24 hours to comply with the request he received last Thursday (Aug. 28) and on Friday he handed over approximately 170 customer records.
According to Palumbo, he said he had spoken with state police last year in regards to the legality of selling AR-15's with the bullet button attachment.
He said police advised him that it should be "ok" but wouldn't guarantee him an answer until someone goes to court for it.
According to Palumbo, he said he was told that there had been a plan to raid the gun shop with the SWAT Team, but the lead investigator felt it would be best to go in peacefully.

Palumbo said he had been told that the reason for the investigation was that there was an anonymous complaint to the NY SAFE "Tipline" that offers a $500 reward for information that leads to an arrest under the SAFE Act.
Citizen spying and telling on fellow citizens is one of the hallmarks of the SAFE Act.
Back when Bill Clinton and the Democrats passed the "Crime Bill" in the 1990s, most of us realized that criminalizing such things as a bayonet mount, a flash suppressor for a Ruger 10/22 .22 caliber plinker rifle, or "ugly" gun specifics that had absolutely no determination in how the gun fired (all semi-automatics) - was a law that would lead down this path towards tyranny eventually.
The Federal "assault" weapons (these are not assault weapons) ban expired under GW Bush, but many states mimicked it, and those laws are still on the books. They void the 2nd Amendment by fiat, and are blatantly unconstitutional.
Now, we see where this has led in many cases. Innocent Americans are being persecuted, arrested, imprisoned, and their lives ruined.
The SAFE ACT is anything but safe.
Another trampling of civil rights brought to you by Adolf Cuomo.
Regardless of NY state law - how can this be legal under the US Constitution?
Can they access ANYONE'S records like that, or just gun shops?
And so, it starts.
IMHO
TRAITOR!!!
The state police can demand access to these records anytime, and no warrant is necessary.
BULL$HIT!!!
According to Palumbo, he said he was told that there had been a plan to raid the gun shop with the SWAT Team, but the lead investigator felt it would be best to go in peacefully.
WHAT A F'ING CONCEPT!!! no one has done ANYTHING ILLEGAL OTHER THAN THE "COPS" & politicians..
Germany,hitler,Jews.
ANYBODY SEE A PATTERN HERE???
BENITO CUOMO STRIKES AGAIN!
I think Cuomo got the “SAFE Act” passed because he was afraid of his Kennedy ex-wife ... Sex, Drugs, Murder, Pedophilia & whatever else the extended Kennedy Klan does.
The problem is New York. No sane person would continue to live there.
NY state would be a good place to start a moving van business when the sane ones decide to leave that communist controlled cesspool.
I think he prefers BENITO rather than ADOLF, because he and his father are proud of their Italian ethic background and like to tell you about the handicaps that the Italian heritage imposed upon their roads to success.
Besides Mussolini made the trains run on time and imposed gun control. Maybe next year the trains will run on time.
It was also popular in the Third Reich and behind the Iron Curtain... Way to go NY, great examples to emulate. :-/
Been that way for a few decades.
Oh, they phrase it as a request, but God help you if you don’t turn the records over to the police when they “request” it.
Seen it in three states now (Nebraska, Iowa, and Illinois).
There is only one reason to ban detachable magazines: to prevent rapid reloading. Why prevent rapid reloading? To make defensive fire less effective and less hazardous to the assailant. Why? Because government thugs don’t like being shot back at when they assault citizens.
Is there a requirement that records be kept in English? Personally, I have always been fascinated with Klingon pig-Latin hyper text mark-up code with an overlay of Elvish. Of course only a Cyrillic alphabet can adequately capture such nuances.
Call some friends to help defend the shop. I’m sure they would have SWAT out gunned and may even teach them a lesson.
Who’s the guy with the beagle?
I would love to go hunting in NY, Counted over 290 deer while driving around Madison,Eaton area, In just one day! Just don’t want to get involved with the restrictive gun laws they have. Bought a nice 30/30 a few years back at a Lake George Walmart, no problems even though I am from out of state. I doubt if I could buy ammo there at this point.
Not to say “let’s you and him fight” to this gun store owner, but what if he had been arrested AFTER refusing to turn over his sales logbooks?
He refuses, the police take him down, and then they look like the fascist thugs that they really are.
“Benito Cuomolini” is NY’s Duce.
Just tell him “you bring your steroid addled jackbooted fascist SWAT boys and I’ll bring in some of my friends. We can see who wins the fight.” Then point and laugh at the SWAT funerals.
Thus have they completely nullified all 4th amendment protections of the Constitution. As well as nullifying the 2nd and 5th Amendments.
Is New York really still part of the United States?
