The French government has announced that planned deliveries of two Mistral warships to Russia have been placed on hold. The first delivery was scheduled for October.
After a meeting of the French defense committee on Wednesday, Paris announced that the deliveries would not yet take place given the current unrest in eastern Ukraine.
"The President of the Republic declared that, despite the prospect of a ceasefire which still remains to be confirmed and implemented, the conditions for France to deliver the first warship are not to date in place," a statement from the office of French President Francois Hollande read.

Anyone in NATO (except Turkey)?
Japan?
Australia?
France?
With Russia’s history, why would anyone sell them weapons?
Let them prove themselves over a generation or two, or perhaps arm them as an ally in a tough situation.
To just arm them... not a smart idea from here.
Japan and Australia are building their own.
Well, now they can buy two more :)
That are all but completed.
The French pull this crap all the time. 100 years ago, most of Russia’s Battleships were French built.
Looking at the de Gaulle, why would anyone actually want to buy a French warship?
Let alone one thats basically a glorified auto carrier?
Personally, I think they should go ahead and sell these things to Russia. Which won’t be able to afford the upkeep on them.
While I doubt that Canada will pick these ships up, our navy could likely put them to good use. They are even built for use in northern waters.
True enough. The Aussie ships are ready for sea trials and are rather impressive.
Canada has been toying with the idea of once again having a naval airpower component in the fleet.
South Korea?
I guess if they had that much money they could just build it themselves
The de Gaulle is faithfully serving, and the French have a thing about their military-industrial complex. So I would look to the people spending money on French equipment, versus your impression of it.
Um, yeah, let’s see ... After fixing the exploding screws, and the laundry machines that caused the ship to vibrate (amongst other problems), the French are still having to plow so much money into de Gaulle that they can’t even afford a license-build cousin of the RN’s QE class to fill out their defined need for a second carrier.
And how many nations, besides France, have adopted Rafale, again?
India is looking to sign a $20B contract, I believe.
The Russians will eventually get the ships, likely as part of a deal for gas in the winter.
“Let alone one thats basically a glorified auto carrier?”
That’s what I thought it was.
Maybe we can get some more money from China to buy them right?
don’t forget the deck that was too short to launch jets.
