The U.S. government and society need to recognize the direct connections between continuing racial disparities in this country and the wrongs that gave rise to them.
... One of the most important aspects of successful transitional justice, therefore, lies in illuminating not only the victims suffering, but the ways in which an entire society continues to bear the burdens of history. This helps elevate an important point: correcting injustice may require affirmative steps. The U.S. government and society need to recognize and educate citizens on the direct connections between continuing racial disparities in this country and the wrongs that gave rise to them, and to talk far more about the responsibilities we all share for repairing the damage. Perhaps Ferguson which has revealed what can happen when we suppress these conversations will finally motivate us to think about how to address the harms, whether through material reparations or otherwise. If were willing to start talking, well find no shortage of role models for transitional justice throughout the world to help us take the next steps.

Being American and not African is reparations
How much do we have to bribe them to obey the law and not burn down their community?
Oh more free stuff YEA!
Oh wait, I am not going to be getting free stuff..... I am going to be giving it.
No, the exact opposite would happen anytime those getting the reparations deemed they aren't getting enough...
Which of course would be always...
400 hundred years is more politically correct. Though 1,000 years of Arabian oppression and you probably have the right amount of mullah (oops! I mean moolah!)
One time Reparation payment on condition that all forms of means tested social transfers end immediately, and that any “reparation” payment is to be subject to 100% offset for all payments made over the past generation under the color of “The Great Society,” “War on Poverty” etc.
The time for this nonsense has come and gone. Fifty years of free sh*t is enough.
Want more? Not a chance.
she’s getting’ hers. An affirmative action hire, no doubt.
I agree. If black leftists and the LMS would pay reparations for all the damage they did to Ferguson, it would go a long way towards healing the racial rift caused by black democrats, the LMS and the Obama administration.
Reparations will also prevent more global warming.
However (sly grin), I have a hitch or two. It would be 40 acres of land for every man, woman, and child of color. But it would be (here's the hitch) FEDERAL LAND.
MuhuhuHUHAHAHHAHHAHAH!!!!
You beat me to it.
Oh for the love of Pete!
shooting looters will prevent the next Ferguson
“Reparations Could Prevent the Next Ferguson,” said rising young comic Belinda “funny bone” Cooper at a club last night.
It's funny how the deaths of 700,000+ people (and that doesn't include the people who died days, weeks or months after the battles) count for absolutely nothing with the race hustlers.
Extortion
“Who cares if there is another Ferguson or another 100?”

I agree.
I detest blackmail.

“Belinda Cooper is one of those over-educated but not very smart busybodies who should first heal themselves before pretending to know how to heal everybody else.”
An de bitch be white! Most likely another self-deprecating Capo Liberal from the Sheeithole part of the USA.

“Financial reparations are in fact the most direct way to compensate victims for past suffering.”
Actually, this could be a VERY good idea!
First, close and lock the boarders.
Second, reparations included a one way ticket to anywhere and renouncing of American citizenship.
In many cases, when viewed over a life time, the reparations could be close to a million bucks and we’d still come out ahead!
My bet - no one takes it.
