California history textbooks will now be asked to cover "the significance of President Barack Obama's election," under a law signed this week by Gov. Jerry Brown. requires California's Instructional Quality Commission "to consider including, and recommending for adoption by the state board, instruction on the election of President Barack Obama and the significance of the United States electing its first African American President, as appropriate." The author, Democratic Assemblyman Chris Holden, said in a statement: "We want to make sure that future generations understand that the election of our nation's first African American president was a historic step in the effort towards equality and that previous elections involved intimidation and violence that prevented millions of African Americans from voting."

can’t change history. Close check by future generations will see through this.
Sorry, but that’s a great idea... if they really teach the significance of a Communist takeover of a formerly more or less free country. Does the law also specify the details of the curriculum?
Indeed there is significance:
1: One can be president without ever having held a real job.
2. One can be president without proving his provinance.
3. One does not need above room temp IQ to be elected president.
4. One needs no morals to be elected president.
5. One’s friends can be as creepy, sleezy, and felonious as possible and it makes no difference.
If schools teach that, I’m in there with them.
Since they won’t note these two axioms:
OBAMA IS SLIME.
MEXIFORNIA IS DOOMED.
“Calif. Law Calls For Textbooks To Teach Significance Of Obama’s Election”
Great idea as long as they allow me to write that section.
I can see the opening sentence now:
“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”
The same way “they” rewrote history in favor of the thug, Cesar Chavez!
If the country survives and turns around in 2016 the significance of Obama will be to reject liberalism. If Hillary wins, there will be no need for debate. The country can endure 8 years of insanity, but not 16.
I’m fine with this as long as they let all of us on Free Republic write the text.
If they are going to teach the significance of the election of the first fake black man, then they need to the significance of the election of the first genuinely gay president, James Buchanan.
The significance of Barack Obama’s election.........affirmitive action.
Personally, I think “the day the country committed suicide” is a pretty significant date and ought to be singled out in textbooks.
One of the earliest lessons a person should learn: Chit in Chit out.
The merging of party and state will bring us to a very dark place. And it continues at full throttle.
California going back to the Stone Age ,LOL
If it were really that significant...and so beneficial...would they need a law to make it happen?
The significance of the disaster of Obama election can be likened to the earth quake that destroyed San Francisco and took many lives.
Since the city was rebuilt the quake further points to human folly of not learning the lesson that a large quake or elected incompetent can do great harm. The people of California did not learn the lesson and would reelect Barack Obama and Jerry Brown.
