Deputies searching for escapee in downtown LR area (illegal alien rapist escapes in Little Rock)

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) - Pulaski County authorities are searching for a man who escaped custody Monday morning in downtown Little Rock.

Castro Hernandez, 29, was being taken to the Pulaski County courthouse for a hearing on rape charges when he escaped.

Witnesses say they saw Castro running from authorities.

Castro apparently shed his shirt, which authorities found near the Central Arkansas Library main location.

Hernandez is a Hispanic male, 5 feet 1 inch tall and approximately 120 pounds.

Update:

Hernandez was last seen running south on Center Street, and a shirt Hernandez was believed to be wearing was later found at the intersection of 6th and Scott streets, PCSO Minden said.

At 11:15 a.m., an Arkansas State Police helicopter was searching from above a large wooded area west of Interstate Park in Little Rock. Meanwhile, authorities on the ground, including some with K-9 officers, were searching on foot. Some were gathered in the park, while others were posted on the other side of the wooded area near 65th Street.

Minden said Hernandez somehow escaped as he was being escorted with other inmates from the transport van to the downtown courthouse at Markham and Broadway. Preliminary scanner traffic suggested Hernandez slipped out of his restraints, though Minden said he could not confirm that.

Little Rock School District spokesman Pamela Smith said shortly before 9:30 a.m. that Rockefeller Elementary School was put on voluntary lockdown after the district received word from the sheriff's office that police were looking for the inmate in the area. EStem Public Charter Schools were previously on lockdown, however officers have since given them the all clear, school officials said.

"We have been notified by the Little Rock Police Department that the escapee has left the downtown Little Rock area and that we can feel comfortable returning to normal operations," the school said in a statement online. "We will continue to monitor the situation."

Hernandez, who was also being held on an Immigrations and Customs Enforcement hold, should be considered dangerous, Minden said,

"If you see him, don't make contact with him. Contact authorities and let us deal with him," Minden said.

Dont worry though, he'll melt back into the darkness, and re-appear with a new name after a nice ICE hearing that issues a strongly worded warning about raping Americans is unacceptable behavior.

Look for him in your state with a new name and welfare, WIC, Obamaphone, and other benefits.

I would like to see a number put on all the murders, rapes, violent crimes, child abuse incidents, burglaries, robberies, vehicle thefts that illegal aliens have perpetrated over the last 24 years.

Each one of these crimes, was a crime that never would have been committed if we controlled our border.

Not one murder, not one rape, not one violent crime, not one child would have been molested, no burglaries or robberies would have taken place, no vehicles would have been stolen, no gang activity... nothing perpetrated by an illegal would have take place, if the illegals were not here.

Citizen men, woman, and children have been at the mercy of those who will not close our borders to illegal immigrants. And the flood continues.

Our children have to go to schools highly populated by the children of illegal immigrants.

Our government officials have sold us out lock stock and barrel. The chamber of commerce has. The big news organizations have.

By God there should be a day of reckoning for these people, all the pain and suffering they have facilitated, all the death and destruction left in their wake.

I agree. I don’t like to play the elevated numbers game though, because there’s always one nut-job around who will say illegals aren’t that bad because their numbers are only a little above the average (which both you and I disagree with).

IMO, it’s better to simply state each of those crime’s victims would not have had to be subject to them, if the illegal were not here. That makes 100% of those crimes, crimes that would not have been committed.

The elevated numbers game makes it look like only the over/average numbers should be addressed. It’s the wrong mind-set IMO.

You and I agree on these matters, so I’m not trying to give you a bad time.

The other day my wife said she’d like to see the crime stats broken down by street names and the surrounding areas. For instance, what are the crime stats on Martin Luther King boulevards all over the country?

I guess “why should they find him and arrest him”? He’ll be released by a DIM/LIB judge or by ICE. Maybe they should just stop harassing him. By the way, don’t the cops shackle these criminals anymore...especially since the fat cops can’t run and many of the woman cops can’t control the perps?
