Republican: ISIS developing means to ‘blow up’ a US city (Inhofe)

The top Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee said Sunni militants are working on the capability to wipe out a city inside the United States.

The Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has long threatened to carry out a catastrophic attack on American soil, with a spokesman recently boasting that the militant group would fly its flag over the White House.

Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) said ISIS members are “rapidly developing a method of blowing up a major U.S. city and people just can’t believe that’s happening.”

“Yes, it’s really significant what’s happening,” he added during a local television interview on Wednesday.

President Obama has stepped up U.S. air attacks against the group in Iraq after it posted a video online showing the execution of American photojournalist James Foley.

On Thursday, U.S. Central Command announced it had completed six more attacks near the Mosul Dam, making a total of 90 strikes since Obama authorized them on Aug. 8.

Inhofe said that despite the pounding by U.S. forces, ISIS could still inspire followers to attack stateside.

He also slammed the president for not coming up with a strategy to defeat ISIS.

“He's going to have to come up with something that we're going to do because they're holding another hostage in place and the problem is the president, quite frankly, says all these things and he never does them,” Inhofe said.

ISIS is believed to be holding at least four other U.S. prisoners, including journalist Steven Joel Sotloff, who appeared in the ISIS video showing Foley’s execution. The man speaking in that video threatened that Sotloff would be killed next.

If they choose Cleveland or Detroit, would anyone notice a difference?

Cleveland does not belong in the same category as Detroit, not even close. They do have one thing in common, though. That would be substantial MiddleEastern populations.

As Rahm Emanuel might say, “Never prevent a crisis that would give you a reason you invoke martial law.”

If I were Obama, I would put the staff to work.

What city should I hope to be the target? An attack on which city will damage me least. How can I promote the attack on that city?

I understand they already rejected the idea of attacking an American city.

They tested every means of destruction known to man on Detroit, and no one could tell the difference.

For a long time anyone with millions could buy a nuke.

They jerk-offs just got a hold of 2 billion, so they could easily buy nukes from the old KGB IMO.

Can the border be controlled or shall we note who allies themselves with ISIS by refusing to enforce our laws?

One relatively poor man can blow up an entire federal building in OKC with not much help using simple agricultural chemicals. Think what a thousand well funded ISIS suicide fanatics can accomplish with a planned attack in an American city. All they have to do is catch a flight to Mexico and walk across the border.

It bugs me that people pronounce CAIR as “Care”, it should be pronounced “Kah-Ear”

For someone with a life size poster of RuPaul in your bedroom you have one hell of a sense of humor.LOL

Is there some other way to do this besides thermo nuclear device?

Sure, natural gas storage tanks come to mind. Or railway targeting if you know the schedule for particularly hazardous freight. Nothing new there.
