Even the New York Times editorial board thinks the grand jury indictment of Texas Gov. Rick Perry is baseless. In an editorial dripping with contempt for their own conclusions, the Times is compelled to confess that there is really no there there.
One has to read this editorial to appreciate the angst it engendered in the Gray Ladys panel of handwringers, Ed Morrissey observed. Its an expert lesson in the use of weasel words.
Conservatives have rallied to Perrys side following this baseless indictment. Democrats have scrambled to disassociate themselves from his accusers. Many thought that Perry may end up emerging, paradoxically, in a better political position for having been indicted on corruption charges.
But Rosemary Lehmberg, the local district attorney who managed to secure this indictment and who many believe was exacting political retribution against Perry after he sought her removal from the bench for her DUI arrest, may end up with the last laugh.
Texas Gov. Rick Perry plans to turn himself into authorities Tuesday afternoon at a local Texas jail on the heels of his indictment for alleged abuse of power, a member of the governors legal team told Fox News, a report read on Tuesday. Fox News has learned Perry will have his mugshot and fingerprints taken.
Thats really bad news for those who backed Perrys prospective 2016 presidential campaign. No matter how frivolous the charges Perry faces, and they are frivolous, few politicians can recover from having a police mugshot follow them around wherever they go. And Perrys mugshot will do just that in 2015 and 2016.
Life isnt fair, and neither are high-dollar Republican donors the kind of people a prospective candidate needs to woo in order to mount an even remotely competitive presidential campaign.

His presidential aspirations were in the crapper after 2012’s debacle. This might be a blessing for his career. Now many conservatives love him. And many liberals sympathize with him.
Perhaps he was hoping that by doing this today, there would not be much on the news about it tonight, since there is that situation in MO of the unarmed teenager being shot down in cold blood by a white police officer.
The drunk, corrupt, witch who abused her power to bring this nonsense needs to be the poster girl of the Democratic Party.
RE: His presidential aspirations were in the crapper after 2012s debacle
Everyone points to his debate brain freeze as the moment when he lost the 2012 nomination.

I personally thought that was a MINOR issue.
Mugshot or no. He is being viewed as a political prisoner in a way, and the mugshot becomes a non-issue.
Perry needs to remember this AND EVERY LOWLIFE COMMIE ‘RAT SOB INVOLVED IN THIS FIASCO. Karma can be a real b*tch!!!!
Or he could use the mug shot in a campaign advert with the caption;
“This is what the democrats do to people that disagree with them”
Another shooting in St. Louis today.
Two St. Louis city police officers shot and killed a black man who came within several
feet of them brandishing a knife on Tuesday a few miles from the turbulent suburb
Ferguson, authorities said.
Vic Feazell, McClennon County Texas DA, was arrested on all kinds of trumped up charges in the 80s when he was right in the middle of a re-election campaign. He had bumper stickers made up of two fists breaking handcuffs. He won in a landslide. Then he fought the charges and not only won, Channel 8 in Dallas paid him millions for libel.
Perry can turn this indictment into a plus.
Perry just completed a presser, turned and walked through the door to turn
himself in. NBC had the presser on live.
I would make the mug shot a campaign poster:
DEMOCRATS: MAKING CONSERVATISM A CRIME
Don’t worry Hotair. This will rev up donation to Perry.
The lush’s photo didn’t seem to hurt her until she attacked the Gov.
He should pardon himself.
If “existing while republican” becomes a crime, then perhaps no laws apply any more...
One should always turn themselves in so as not to get arrested. Then there is no arrest on file. Right?
Good riddence to La Raza Rickie.
