Yesterday, Rick Perry was indicted on charges of abuse of official capacity and coercion of a public servant felonies that could potentially result in a life sentence after following through on his promise to veto state prosecutors investigating public corruption.
The left-leaning advocacy group, Texans for Public Justice, has largely pushed the issue, which stems from Perry threatening to cut $7.5 million over two years from the public integrity unit in order to pressure Rosemary Lehmberg, the Travis County District Attorney whose office oversaw that unit, to resign after she was convicted of driving under the influence.
While the courts will have to rule on the legitimacy of the charges, its not hard to see why Governor Perry may not want Rosemary leading an office.
” stems from Perry threatening to cut $7.5 million over two years from the public integrity unit in order to pressure Rosemary Lehmberg....”
Since Perry actually did make the cuts, wasn’t that a “promise”, rather than a “threat”?
Linky?
I wonder how many judges and prosecutors this slimbag had to shop for before she found one to take the case to a grand jury. Then again it is Travis County. A dark blue fly spec on an otherwise red state. I do certainly enjoy that this woman is being exposed for the wild drunk behavior she displayed.
Sorry. Does that work for you?
Seems like the ex-DA and her cronies wouldn't want the pictures and videos to be shown and shown thousands of times on the Internet which will likely happen.
Demoncrap witch hunt Texas style. Sounds like her drunken jail video needs to go viral so everyone knows she blew three times the legal limit. It is all over You Tube.
Interesting.
In my clumsy way, I was trying to point out the absurdity of charging Perry for “threatening” to carry out an action (the veto) that (AFAIK) he’s completely empowered to carry out.
nice moon walk fat azz
I am sure Gov. Perry is shaking in his cowboy boots.
Your verdict, sir?
Oh, no need to worry about that. They’ve been on the internet since day one.
That works. Thanks!
Looks like a bad Melissa McCarthy skit on SNL...
Texas sure does have some tough DUI tests.
Anybody know what her BAC was at the time of her arrest?
