Slidell police: Woman checks in to hospital pretending to be her dead sister

A Slidell woman allegedly was trying to avoid paying her hospital bill by using her dead sister's name, birth date, and Social Security number when she checked in to a local hospital last week. At the time, police said she was wearing the deceased woman's memorial shirt.

It almost worked, would have, if not for a bad clothing choice. Of all days to wear that particular shirt. Makes you wonder what kind of injury she needed treatment for. Could she have been bopped on the head by a falling apple maybe?

Reminds me of a case where my company's UAW pension plan was paying out survivor benefits to the wife of a deceased retiree.

We ultimately discovered that the surviving spouse had died and her sister, who she had been living with, failed to report the death and continued to receive and cash the monthly pension benefit.

This had been going on for a number of years and the company had paid out approx. $30,000 to the deceased.........Which by the way were never recovered due to legal issues that would take too long to explain............

When I worked for kaiser in Cali, we had a guy who would come to the ER with a disappearing bullet in his chest. Sometimes it was there on xray, sometimes it wasn’t. Multiple family members and friends would use the patients Kaiser card.
I got a kick out of saying “ hey Mr Jones what happened to that bullet in your left lung?” and enjoy the look on their face as they tried to explain it.
