MINNEAPOLIS Target Corp. is adding its name to a legal defense of gay marriage, joining other large companies that are taking a stand, just four years after the retailer came under criticism for supporting a strident opponent of same-sex unions.
Target said it has signed a court brief backing marriage equality in a pending court case and publicly declared its support of gay marriage, a move similar to those taken by Starbucks, Intel and Apple.

Not surprised. I thought this was already the case anyway.
Target = Dayton Hudson = DemoRat liberal. This is no surprise. I haven’t shopped there since the 80s when I discovered they gave to Planned Parenthood. I’ve happily existed without them ever since and you can too.
There was something we wanted the other day, can’t remember what it was now, but Target had the best price on it, and we were next door at the bank. So proud of Mrs. RQSR. She said “No WAY, never buying from Target ever again”.
Cool!
Why do major retailers go out of their way to support liberal causes such as homosexual marriage? Why do they support any social/political causes at all? Why aren’t they just neutral in all of the political battles???? So are they saying that they want only liberals shopping there?
Will they expect a spike in their sales from the homosexual and liberal communities with this action????
Target is a MN company and I want to support it; however I’m having a hard time ignoring this issue. Why is it so important for Target to bow down to 3% of the population?
Their pandering to the gays has to alienate at least 35% of the rest of us.
Maybe Target should listen less to their gay employees and worry more about offending their bread and butter- the shoppers. The non homo shoppers.
Two words, "Disposable Income."
Ditto. Are they even still in business?
I shop at (1) locally owned businesses (whose owners I know), (2) online, and (3) Walmart, in that order. If Walmart gets taken over by the left wing, then I will drop them from my list.
I wonder what percent of Targets food sales are on SNAP/EBT cards. Target is getting politically correct in order to keep cashing in on the government dole.
I shop online except for groceries and that’s at Ralphs typically. Problem solved.
Well, they are competing with Walmart. The rules of economics still apply, but they've been perverted by government intervention.
Now, instead of competing for customers, they're competing for handouts.
I have also made it a point to stop by the closest Hobby Lobby (about 20 miles away). Unfortunately, they don’t sell much of anything that I buy.
I’ve often wondered the same thing. Conservatives’ and straights’ money is just as good as liberals’ and gays’ money, isn’t it? And there are more of us than there are of them.
"Republicans buy shoes too."
Only one problem. Bigger store chains tend to put the small business stores out of business. The real reason why any of these stores do this is because they are confident that a lot of people have no choice but to go to their store.
I agree. There’s no need to make yourself all about politics. Perhaps Jordan also just wante to enjoy the game?
So does every beanball in retail.
I don’t.
Businesses take stances because they’re pretty sure that customers don’t have much of an alternate choice as to where to shop. I agree though, I don’t see any reason to take a stance and add to the insanity.
This does not affect me as I have not shopped there in years. I have about 4-5 stored I go to. I might pay a bit more but as I tell the wife I just have to stand on something. I wish more Americans had when the buy cheap Chinese crap trend started and put some Americans out of work. I firmly believe in free market but I am disgusted that we sell out our country to save a dollar.
