Obama: Pulling All U.S. Troops Out of Iraq Was Not ‘My Decision' (it was Iraq's decision)

(CNSNews.com) - When he was running for re-election in 2012, President Barack Obama repeatedly took credit for ending the war in Iraq and bringing all U.S. troops home from that country. Today, at the White House, however, when talking about his decision to use military force against the al-Qaida-related ISIS terrorist group in Iraq, Obama said that removing all U.S. troops from Iraq was not “my decision.”

“Under the previous administration, we had turned over the country to a sovereign, democratically elected Iraqi government,” Obama said. “In order for us to maintain troops in Iraq, we needed the invitation of the Iraqi government and we needed assurances that our personnel would be immune from prosecution if, for example, they were protecting themselves and ended up getting in a firefight with Iraqis, that they wouldn’t be hauled before an Iraqi judicial system.

“And the Iraqi government, based on its political considerations, in part because Iraqis were tired of a U.S. occupation, declined to provide us those assurances,” Obama said. “And on that basis, we left.

He’s really become insufferable.

I hope the people have learned their lesson!

What's the new talking point?
Bush got us into Iraq and, and, and, it's Bush' fault we had to leave!

I dunno, but the lefties are going to blow a cork when they hear this! Pulling out of “Bush and Cheney’s War” is the thing they give Obama most credit for ;-)

From: The Limbaugh Theorem
by Peter Wehner

"Why did polls show massive dissatisfaction with the country’s direction while at the same time supporting Mr. Obama’s agenda?

This gave rise to what Rush calls the Limbaugh Theorem, which is that Obama has mastered the ability to always be seen as “opposing everything that’s happening, even the things he is causing to happen. He is on a perpetual campaign.” A variation of the Limbaugh Theorem can be seen in the unfolding scandals now buffeting the administration. According to Rush, “[Obama] gets away with everything precisely by appearing to have no involvement with it … He gets away with not being tied to [the IRS scandal] like he’s not tied to the jobs numbers, he’s not tied to the debt, he’s not tied to the economy. He’s not tied to anything going wrong.”

It seems to me the Limbaugh Theorem is on the mark, that Limbaugh once again got it right and got it early. Mr. Obama has shown a remarkable, Houdini-like ability to escape accountability for his mistakes. Part of the explanation for this undoubtedly has to do with an unprecedented bias in the press and how they choose to frame stories. Part of it may also have to do with what is known as “low information voters.” But the fact that the American people have allowed the president to escape responsibility for his failed policies time and again is clearly problematic. The question is whether Obama can replicate in his second term what he did in his first. I hope not, and in the end I believe the truth will out. But it’s not foreordained, and we’ll find out soon enough.

The brain dead LIBs will never “learn their lesson”. They are hopeless, degenerate, unsufferable losers. They only deserve ridicule...eternal ridicule.

Unfortunately there is much truth in this comment.

The idiot Bush II allowed these primitive savages to draft their own constitution with Islam as a state religion. After spending a fortune in money and blood we let them kick us in the teeth.

The destructive anti-American menace who succeeded Bush just took advantage of the opportunities that presenteday to pursue his own agenda.

No mind, no brain, no caring. Either he is clueless or this is intentional. This is intentional as he has had enough time to figure this out. But of course he could be brainless, in which case it is intentional.

because Iraqis were tired of a U.S. occupation

We weren't occupiers once Iraq had an elected government. Obama's use of the term is both insulting and revealing.

“And the Iraqi government, based on its political considerations, in part because Iraqis were tired of a U.S. occupation, declined to provide us those assurances,” Obama said. “And on that basis, we left...Unbelievable - he can't even keep his arguments straight - first, we wanted to leave because we didn't get assurances of immunity (we already had such assurances from Maliki - Obama insisted every member of the ruling council also give that assurance - something he knew would never happen) - then the argument shifts to Iraq wanted us out anyway, even though part of the previous agreement under Bush was that we wuld leave troops to be determined later - life must be a chaotic experience for the Prez.....

I’m not sure how hard they really tried to negotiate a status of forces agreement, but the fact that they did not or could not was certainly a foreign policy failure. We knew that the Iraqi army was not really ready.

America demands Justice for the Fallen of Benghazi!

O stranger, tell the Lacedaemonians that we lie here, obedient to their command.

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

Well, I’m all in favor of ridicule (our side really doesn’t do enough of that) but it’s insufficient to keep them from voting.

I’m starting to think we really do have to restrict voting rights, but let’s start by cleaning up the voting rolls first.

I’ve been astonished at how the dems have fought voter id, etc.

I guess they really have been doing a lot of voting fraud all these years, even back in the day when only John Fund was talking about it.

The democratic party basically is a criminal enterprise. Although this Barack Obama, he’s no Don Corleone.

So, it's not his fault? No. Of course not. Never.

Well, the decision right now is whether to fight them over there or fight them over here. It has come down to that. Today that is his decision to make.

Anybody want to bet the answer is "over here" but it will be played by the Liberals and the media as "Bush's Fault"?

““...and we needed assurances that our personnel would be immune from prosecution...”

This man is insane.”

From what I’ve read here in the past, that was actually a serious bone of contention. Of course we should have just told them to F-off,,,, but we didn’t.
