“While ebola has never been detected in the U.S.”
Wrong. There is a US doctor who treated Ebola victims in Sierra Leonne who is in a Texas hospital right now.

That’s just hunky dory.
First flood the state with illegal immigrants then mix a few Ebola sufferers in.
If I didn’t know better I would think that Barack is mad at Texas (and Perry). /s

Bring Out Your Dead
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...

The Centers for Disease Control has designated El Paso as one of 20 quarantine stations for the ebola virus.
20 quanantine stations?
Per an earlier thread,
"... is physically separate from other patient areas and is one of only four such facilities in the country."
Only four facilities in the country? That is scary considering what may or may not be coming across the southern border unabated or through international airports.
The article does not identify whether this 'patient' is American or foreign or where he/she is coming from.

I have little worry this will spread MUCH in the US, but there is the potential for panic and widespread disruption caused by panic.

Hubby’s theory: El Paso sits in a bowl, and they can shoot anyone who tries to get out. Uh k.

“including El Paso, mostly where international travelers arrive.” You mean “international travelers” don't arrive anywhere else? What is wrong with this administration? Everything is wrong, nothing makes sense, everything is upside down. For God sakes, the time is right for throwing out anyone associated with this crap. I could have stated it stronger but I refrained.

Despite all the criticism of Pres. G.W. Bush, one of his goals was to stop terrorism at its source. Anyone with common sense would feel the same about ebola, i.e. stop it at its source. Bringing someone into the US suffering from ebola is playing ebola roulette, and the American people, North America, the Western Hemisphere should not take the risk. In spite of all the hue and cry that we have such impenetrable research sites and safety measures, we should NOT invite something so lethal to this country!

"The incubation period, that is, the time interval from infection with the virus to onset of symptoms, is 2 to 21 days. "
21 days is going to be a REAL problem.

Out of 30, there’s TWO in Texas. Every story out today has proven to me they know it’s here and it’s too late to shut the barn door on illegals and international flights. That’s also why they’re not worried about bringing in already infected Nancy Whatshername. Just in time for the start of the school year. All thanks to hussein.

CDC Designates El Paso an Ebola Quarantine Site The symbolism is striking.
El Paso means "the pass". When the conquistadors were crossing the mountain range to get to the western part of the continent they named this pass, El Paso.
Once again we have a stranger (Ebola) looking for a pathway into the U.S. and again it starting at "El Paso".
