Once again we have to ask, what the hell is the NRA up to?

That's absurd. The NRA gives money to candidates, they don't get money from them.
Every election we go through this same thing. The NRA is a single issue organization. They don't care about other issues, unless those issues affect their ability to do their job like McCain-Feingold. Given two candidates with pro-gun records they support the incumbent, because history shows incumbents are far more likely to win. The NRA has been very open about that policy, yet the same people here always post offended messages to the effect of "that does it, I'm never giving them another dime". I think some folks here have "quit" giving them money about 100 times, if they ever gave any at all, which I doubt.
If you don't like that policy, there is a solution. The NRA is a grass roots organization. The leaders are elected by the members. Get involved, go to your local Members' Council meetings, and vote people who share your opinion into the Board of Directors. Or bitch on an online forum and feel self righteous.
Part of the NRA’s contribution to Harry Reid was my money.
I understand their playing the odds of supporting an incumbant but I have to do what what is right with my money.
I have and will continue to send my money elsewhere.
Although, I did like their “America’s First Freedom” magazine.
Aw, all these NRA bashers have so much fun bitching, and you go spoiling it with facts.
There are acutally three options:
1)Get involved, go to your local Members’ Council meetings, and vote people who share your opinion into the Board of Directors.
2)Bitch on an online forum and feel self righteous
3)Move on to greener pastures, and support ($$)candidates that support the 2nd ammendment as well as being conservative on other issues.
The NRA makes some stupid endorsements some times, but not in this case. Alexander A-, Carr A, but no endorsement for either.
They supported Thad Cochran over Chris McDaniel in Mississippi too. I don’t think I will renew my membership. They are anti Tea Party.
My biggest beef with the NRA isn't their political choices, but in how they have bowed to supporting restrictive laws in the past. Love me for it or hate me for it, I'm a purist when it comes to 2nd amendment "interpretation". I should be able to own anything that our military does if so choose to and I shouldn't need a permission slip to do it. I also feel that a released ex-felon should either have the same rights as me, or he should stay in prison. The NRA does not share my point of view, but I still send the bastards money because they "mostly" fight the good fight.
It’s also the reason we really, really need term limits.
Nothing wrong with #3 option. But it does nothing to help keep squishy pro 2A incumbents stay in line. When a candidate gets money from an ordinary individual it carries no influence as far as future actions. When a group like the NRA-PFV gives money it comes with implicit strings attached, and they know it.
Doing both 1 and 3 is another alternative.
Pathetic.
NRA is the Second Amendment version of AARP. There are better organizations to help. They are like the Chamber of Communists. Didn’t renew my membership five years ago and not sorry I didn’t.
The 2012 election was a disaster for the NRA. They lost 7 of 8 Senate races they put 100k or more in and 1/2 of the House races they were involved in. Maybe this is a good thing.
Many of us former NRA members have switched to more reliable grassroots 2nd Amendment organizations like Gun Owners of America and, in the case of Tennessee, the Tennessee Firearms Association. That way we no longer have to feel like a cheap date after writing a check in support.
This is why I left the NRA!!!
i was thinking of rejoining but not now. i belong to Rocky Mountain Gun Owners and will keep my money local.
Conservatives are gonna have to go rogue, voting against the elitists who have taken over the Republican party, the NRA, & other supposed conservative organizations.
Either vote for conservative, 3rd party candidates or vote for the Democrat if it means voting out the fat cat RINOs. Cancel your NRA membership.
Look at it this way: RINOs are gonna vote this country into Hell along with the Rats, so we might as well have a Rat in office than a lying RINO. The NRA is in bed with the elitists who hate guns in the hands of citizens. By supporting Alexander it is tacitly supporting more gun control, bigger government, more tyranny.
The likes of Alexander & Cochran are traitors to their base. It's time the base voted for anybody but them. Let the NRA get its money from the elitists it supports.
OK, it is.
