Got them from Amazon. I live in California. Don't know how widely distributed they were in the US otherwise.
Anyhoo... Feeling a little queasy right now and this thread is just a courtesy heads-up for any of my fellow Freepers who would feel likewise queasy at the prospect of eating some of them. For all you snake eaters out there, never mind. :-)
Kirkland is Costco’s house brand, fwiw. I eat those nuts all the time.
I hate to tell my fellow”Freepers”this, but Kirkland(Costco)is”Infested with”Obongo A$$K*$$ERS”!Shop there at your own risk!!!
What’s the big deal? Extra protein is provided at no additional charge and someone freaks out, damn sensitive westerner stomachs.
“Less Than 50% Centipedes Per Can!”
Hey, think of the high-protein content of these “infestations” of insects. Egg yolks from free-range chickens are somewhat more nutritious because of all the bugs they chased and gulped down. Taking the insects in directly does convert the rather crude and incomplete proteins in mixed nuts into a biologically superior form of what are termed “complete” amino acids, the building blocks of proteins.
They exceed the recommended amount of Bugs Parts and Rodent Hair
Dang it. I buy that stuff for the centipedes. Nothing like feeling their little legs tickling as they slide down yer throat. If they think they're going to go for cheap fill like dung beetles they'll lose me as a customer.
Ick!
Less Than 50% Centipedes Per Can!
“100% of The US-FDA Daily Maggot Requirement!”
Heh.
Just relabel them “Kirkland Land-A-Lunker Bass Bait” and raise the price six bucks a can. Problem solved.
She said every day when she went in to work, the vat was carpeted with a squirming mass of cockroaches. Completely carpeted it. You couldn't see the white cheese underneath. She had a rake and a scoop to rake off and scoop out the dead ones who were left behind after the ones that were still alive bugged out.
Couldn't eat cottage cheese for 40 years after that!
mm extra protein and maybe even some chitin
I hate it when my nuts are infested.

I used to ride with my dad to the local creamery to unload raw milk,, oh man, curd, whey, its was fun to watch the machinery that sucked it up.. And spit it out,, in dried milk, cottage cheese, hand milk for local stores..
Where they earwigs? According to Rod Serling on Night Gallery, they lay eggs wherever they eat...
