Palestinian officials and witnesses said Israeli airstrikes slammed an urban street and a major hospital in the Gaza Strip on Monday, causing deaths and injuries. At least seven children playing in the street were reported killed, and casualties were reported near clinic facilities of Shifa hospital, the most sophisticated medical facility in Gaza.
Earlier, a fragile holiday lull in fighting in the Gaza Strip had been punctuated by Israeli airstrikes and rocket launches by Palestinian militants in the wake of a call by the U.N. Security Council for an unconditional humanitarian truce.
On the 21st day of the conflict, Israels Cabinet was meeting to weigh the next military and political moves. In Gaza, the relative calm lasting most of the day coincided with the start of the Eid al-Fitr, one of the most important festivals of the Muslim calendar, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The United States and other mediators had hoped to forge a durable cease-fire prior to the three-day holiday, but efforts over the past week failed to bring the two sides together. Hamas has insisted on a lifting of a years-long blockade on Gaza enforced by Israel and Egypt; Israel demands that its troops be allowed to continue destroying Hamas-dug tunnels while a truce is in effect.
Across Gaza, Eid commemorations were muted by the death and destruction visited on the crowded coastal strip during the last three weeks. With more than 1,000 people, mainly civilians, dead and entire neighborhoods lying in ruins, a normally festive time was marked by fear and anxiety.
At a school-turned-refugee center in Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza, displaced Palestinian families overflowed classrooms and open-air corridors. Clothes hung from window sills and railings; bedding and mattresses were stacked high.

“seven children playing in the street”
Note to self: Don’t let the kids play in the street in a war zone.
It’s all on the heads of Hamas, their own elected government who kicked over a hornets nest and are now crying because they’re getting stung - it’s the hornets fault.
Happy Eid, bleepholes.
What is the IDF report?
might go something like this:
Several hundred small arms along with over a dozen RPG-type weapons, stored at the hospital, were destroyed.
Along with two sweet elderly laddies carrying fresh baked pies to their grandchildren and one incredibly adorable kitten...
Anything from the liberal media to make Israel look like the bad guys and the Palestinians look like the innocent party....
I don’t know about you all, but I always encourage my kids to play in the street while rockets are being launched.
Seven less future suicide bombers?
“Note to self: Dont let the kids play in the street in a war zone.”
Racist.
I hope everyone realizes they must take these stories with a grain of salt. Muslims fabricate stories and incidents out of whole cloth - they have been known to do so for many years - and they are good at it.

I heard Hamas did this and blamed it on Israel.
++ 2 double tap to your double post!
Hamas fired the rocket and it hit the hospital..the idf has video footage proving it..of course the media wont report it
I really do not give a smelly Obama about Palestine.
Shove up your prophet, Palestine.
It's subtle, but notice that almost if not all of the reporting lists Israel's response first and the Pali's provocation second despite the sequence being the reverse? Repeat it often enough and the seed is planted that Israel is the aggressor, the opposite of reality.
Maybe the Pallies should rethink their idea of launching rockets off the roof of a hospital . . .
Palestinian officials and witnesses said Israeli airstrikes slammed an urban street and a major hospital, weapons storage facility in the Gaza Strip.
Fixed it.
On a couple of news sites, the Hamas have kept the press away from the area. I wonder if it’s because of the munitions they had stored there that blew up? And they don’t want the press to see it
