The U.S. Embassy in Libya evacuated its personnel on Saturday because of ongoing militia violence in the capital, Tripoli, U.S. officials said.
About 150 personnel, including 80 U.S. Marines were evacuated from the embassy in the early hours of Saturday morning and were driven across the border into Tunisia, U.S. officials confirm to CNN.

They did!
Yeh, we killed him!!
Who gave the "illegal" order to assassinate him?
Actually, his own people killed him.
Good thing Obama has Al Quada on the run!
Tunisia is also in turmoil.

OBAMA AND HIS “ARAB SPRING”, the Kenyan-American grifter’s gift to the Moslem Jihad’s world.
Leading from behind - such a great strategy. Look how it has turned out.
I don’t think your answer was responsive to Sacajaweau’s question.
Bush or YouTube’s fault this time?
Yup. Neither one has any moral standing to whine about Russia.
I did not see a question.
1: Overthrew the Egyptian government. Muslim Brotherhood took over.
2: Overthrew Libyan government. Al Queda took over.
3: Tried to overthrow Syrian government. ISIS would be in charge now.
4: Overthrew Ukraine's government. Still a mess.
5: Tried to overthrow Iraq's government. ISIS would probably take over.
Did I miss any? And they called Bush a War Monger.
Did anyone else hear or read about when the Pentagon wanted this done?
The US embassy in Libya has shut down and all diplomatic staff have been evacuated to neighboring Tunisia by military escort because of ongoing clashes and violence between rival militias sweeping the country.
Some 150 personnel were moved across the border due to the ongoing violence, State Department deputy spokeswoman Marie Harf tweeted.
We had to take this step because the location of our embassy is in very close proximity to intense fighting...between armed Libyan factions, she added.
A new Libya travel warning was issued by the US State Department on Saturday, advising against all travel and recommending that US citizens depart immediately.
The security situation in Libya remains unpredictable and unstable. The Libyan government has not been able to adequately build its military and police forces and improve security following the 2011 revolution, the travel warning explained.
The move comes as the Obama administration continues to express wariness over the safety of US staff abroad, and Libya has been of particular concern since a deadly 2012 attack in Benghazi, during which four diplomatic personnel died, including the then US ambassador J. Christopher Stevens.
New clashes broke out at Tripoli airport on Friday between rival Libyan militant groups attempting to seize control of it. Loud explosions rang through its grounds following 13 continuous days of shelling which have severed air links between the city and the outside world.
Many military-grade weapons remain in the hands of private individuals, including antiaircraft weapons that may be used against civilian aviation, emphasized the travel warning.

“Who gave the “illegal” order to assassinate him? “
Just trying to help..:^)
Russia is a different situation. The Ukraine has little strategic value, other than it’s a proxy battle between Western influence and Russia. So it’s a valid intervention.
Libya was of no value at all and I believe there should be a rule set in stone that says....
“If you break it, you have to fix it.”
To fix Libya, just like Iraq, and any other country where they have never had a government even slightly resembling democracy and have live under one authoritarian ruler or another, it would have to take at a minimum a 30-40 year program of aid and assistance to get them converted.
You have to create a environment where the next generation of people begin to assume roles in government before you can eradicate the old.
The Ukraine is not of that category. It requires much less effort and time.
That is why Iraq, Libya, and any other tin pan dictator country that has been that way for generations, will never be fixed by a short term intervention.
Hope that answers the question from my perspective.
I didn’t ask a question.

There is the usual level of Muslim on Muslim violence taking place throughout the Muslim world. But then, either through our direct involvement or through relinquishing our influence, wherever Muslim strongman dictators are removed, the countries devolve into either sectarian or tribal conflicts.
This seems to happen even in relatively stable places like Egypt.
it seems that there can be no other conclusion, that these sects, tribes, nations are incapable of peaceful existence sans a strong man. Even then peace only seems to be kept through a dominant violence and ruthlessness.
We either need to provide moral guidance backed with a military threat or stay out of these places. I vote for the second.
