Diplomatic-security cabinet "flatly rejects" American proposals for a week-long humanitarian halt to fighting, seeks changes to terms.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's security cabinet has rejected proposals for a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip and is seeking changes to the plans, a government source said on Friday.
US Secretary of State John Kerry has been pushing for a halt to 18 days of fighting between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
Full details of the proposed truce have not been released, but the government official, who declined to be named, said Israel wanted modifications before agreeing to any end to hostilities. Hamas has yet to respond to the proposed ceasefire.

A cease fire with Hamas is not a cease fire. It is a deliberate act of suicide by Israelis.
Hamas started it and they can lay down their weapons whenever they want.
Pray America wakes up
Let us hope that the Israelites can drag out the ceasefire discussions for as long as the Iranians drag out the nuclear talks. In the meantime they can finish off Hamas.
I wouldn’t take advice from an administration that couldn’t control its own border either.
Hmmph!
“I wouldnt take advice from an administration that couldnt control its own border either.”
*APPLAUSE*
Obama and the UN paid for those tunnels and the
weapons inside.
I wouldn’t take advice from an administration that WOULD NOT control of its own border either.
bit of a difference....
Absolutely. No matter what Hamas’ propaganda minister at FR (Traveler) says!
Well said.
So, the Israelis have told “Old Frankenhead” Kerry where3 to put his knockwurst, eh?
Good for them!
Putin has demonstrated to the world that our words carry absolutely no weight.
“...I wouldnt take advice from an administration that couldnt control its own border either.....”
Nominated for POST OF THE WEEK!
Is that true? I thought this go-round was actually initiated by Israel.
Not that it matters in the long-term.
Neither appears ready for peace. **Sigh**
The only place in the Israeli-Palestinian war area where John Kerry could expect to receive a hero’s welcome is in Gaza among what’s left of the Hamas commanders — NOT in Egypt, where he was just humiliatingly forced to go through a metal detector to enter the country, and NOT in Israel where his latest cease-fire proposal was unanimously rejected by Israel’s cabinet.
Yet, although John Kerry’s been working night and day to try to negotiate a cease-fire that favors Hamas over Israel — just as he once worked night and day to try to negotiate a cease-fire that favored the North Vietnamese over the United States — he’s not visited Gaza yet to receive the thanks he deserves. It’s too dangerous there, apparently.
So he keeps haunting safe, civilized countries like Egypt and Israel so he can remain in the Middle East. If he wasn’t so easily frightened, he might travel to Iraq to try to negotiate a peace deal between ISIS and the Iraqi government, or to Syria to try to get the warring parties together there.
But John Kerry during his entire tenure as U.S. Secretary of State has never been interested in peace; instead he’s been consumed with the need to annoy the Israeli government on behalf of Hamas in Gaza and Fatah on the West Bank to give up its land. And what a failure he’s been! Israel has never been as strongly united against giving up any piece of its land as it is now.
Go home, John Kerry, and go sailing on your multi-million-dollar yacht which you refused to pay taxes on until the government came and had to practically haul you off to jail.
Hamas started firing rockets from Gaza so they can stop anytime they want.
