There were only a few ways Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) could react to HBOs True Blood portrayal of Texas Republicans being murdered at a fictitious Cruz fundraiser.
He could have ignored it, or laughed it off. But he went political.
A scene in Sundays episode took place at the George W. Bush Presidential Library, where a Cruz function was being held. The vampires who went made disparaging comments about the Republicans in attendance (What do you expect? Its Hollywood.) and then there was a vicious bloodbath. (We admittedly do not watch True Blood, so we cant offer further context, but we know its a show about vampires and can be quite grisly.)
Cruz, not known for mincing words, shot back on social media several times Tuesday, drawing a comparison between the undead and Democrats. On his Facebook page Cruz wrote:
Of all the places I never thought to be mentioned, HBOs True Blood vampire show would have to be near the top of the list. Sunday night, they aired a misogynist and profanity-ridden episode where Texas Republicans are murdered attending a Ted Cruz fundraiser.

Too much fun.
Ahh, those lovable, knucklehead Dems... they just LOVE to project what they’d like to do to us!!!
[sarcasm]
Because no Democrat would have gone political if someone on Duck Dynasty or any other non-left wing show had referred to someone as a Democ#nt.
[/sarcasm]
Harry Reid would have already convened Senate hearings and Obama would have broken into his busy fundraising schedule to make an address to the nation about hate speech.
I think this is a bit of a loaded statement. First, its fairly unique that a national TV show attacks a sitting US senator like this. Usually they have fictional senators. But HBO wanted to make a statement. You can be damn sure if it was a Barbara Boxer fundraiser or a Liz Warren fundraiser, the media would have gone ballistic over the "hate" directed at the senator. Second, Cruz did kinda laugh it off. The reporter makes it sound like Cruz went on some political rant but he didn't.
True Blood was good if always racy, in its first few seasons.
It also was not super gay.
The good writer left and the show is now just a sensationalist soap opera with lots of sex, nudity and gay sex, and the story is not worth following.
It could have remained good if they returned to the basics of the main characters and the books. Lots of women are still watching because they love the Eric character and think he’s so hot.
I would like to observe that Charlaine Harris, author of the books on which the tv series is based, is responsible for NONE of this. What there is of politics in the books - mostly at the town or parish law enforcement level - is non-partisan.
I’ve seen a few episodes and did not care for the series. The books by Charlaine Harris upon which the series is based contains NO politics; the material mentioned is purely a Hollywood insertion. The books are quite entertaining.
Ya know - if you ignore them, they’ll go away. As it is, they get free advertising.
Same can be said to them about Ted Cruz.
Sheesh....it’s Hollywood.
This is what they do.
And we flail, grid our teeth, stammer, stomp and wail.
And they get the free advertising.
Democrat Parasite murder fantasy
Just another soft porn series with a storyline.
Not even worth a look-see.
They tell us what they truly desire through their fiction....
No publicity is bad publicity.
Hate speech? No hate speech here, just liberals being “colorful”. Oh, that and feeling some kind of unholy glee.
“Aw, c’mon fellas, it’s just poetic license!”
I’m sure Nanacy Pelosi or Herself, Madame Benghazi, the Cold & Joyless, would never consider themselves to be “Democ#@ts”. But they would have thought this sort of characterization applied to Republicans to be uncommonly clever and the height of witty repartee.
It is the last season of True Blood, so they can go low like this.
In the Fangtasia scene, there is also a picture behind the bar or on the wall near the bar where President Bush is a vampire, sucking the blood of the Statue of Liberty.
Which is why he needs to ignore them.
