President Barack Obama stepped up his efforts Sunday to limit Israel’s gradual destruction of Hamas’ tunnel network in the Shejaiya neighborhood of Gaza, which now conceals many of the rockets and jihadi units that attack Israelis.
In a morning call to Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Obama “reaffirmed Israel’s right to defend itself [but] also raised serious concern about the growing number of casualties, including increasing Palestinian civilian deaths in Gaza and the loss of Israeli soldiers,” said a 2.00 p.m. statement from the White House.
Israel’s government did not officially respond to Obama’s statement, which came after Israel ground units moved into Gaza to find the tunnels. The Gaza area is controlled by Hamas green-waving jihadis, whose mission is to destroy Israel because it is not controlled by Muslims.
The warring parties should comply with the 2012 ceasefire signed by Hamas, Israel and Egypt’s government, said the White House statement.
“Secretary of State John Kerry will soon travel to Cairo to seek an immediate cessation of hostilities based on a return to the November 2012 ceasefire agreement,” the statement said.

Israel had just better tell Obama to go the hell.
I hope Israel has the backbone necessary to see this through till the area with the bulk of the missiles and tunnels are eradicated.
Iran must be really pissed that many, if not most, of the missiles they sent to Gaza are getting destroyed before they can be launched.
Meanwhile, Obama skids to new low on his handling of foreign policy:
“Obama’s poll numbers are a disaster. Public approval of Obama’s handling of foreign policy fell again in the WSJ/NBC News poll, sliding to a new all-time low of just 37 percent.”

When we bought our farm, there were muskrats in the pond digging tunnels in the dam. Dam muskrats!!! So we found all the entrances and stuffed them full of used cat litter. Not as crazy as it sounds. The litter is made of some form of clay (ask Mr. Mercat) and the cat smell marked it as if from their main predator which was the bobcat. They all scedadled. So I say find the terrorists’ tunnels and stuff them with pig poop. I’m guessing that the Israelis don’t want to mess with that stuff either so hire some of us Christians (large paycheck) to spray it into the tunnels. I would guess some Irish farmers. They spray manure on their fields every fall and so have that skill set.
The man is pandering to his antiwar base. He knows he is irrelevant so he goes into campaign mode throwing them red meat.
Osama, I mean Obama wants to insult Israel ! Bad move to make ! I totally support Israel. Anything less would be insulting !
Just as he did not want Egypt to defeat the Muslim Brotherhood, he does not want Israel to defeat Hamas. If Ukraine were involved a Moslem war, he would probably be more involved there (on the side of the Moslems).

Why would Israel respond to an international embarrassment such as Obama? Even acknowledging him is a waste of time.
Oh look, the crapander in chief is telling a sovereign country how to run its affairs again.
John Kerry needs to stay home. Israel is perfectly capable of running their own country.
While they're at it, start flooding a tunnel, and invite Kerry to experience indoor wind-surfing.
