Politicians here have not even figured out how yet to implement their new law requiring us to pay for everybody elses health care, and already people are clamoring to legalize drugs that are, at the very least, hazardous to their health.
The good people of Colorado and Washington state can now buy and smoke pot without violating state laws. The movement to do so is spreading among other states like a hot tropical virus through a detention facility on the Mexican border.
I, for one, have never really cared one way or the other if people choose to smoke pot. My experience is that it appears to make most people dumber and slower. But it also seems to make some people happy and fall asleep, which I view as a real positive. Especially the part about putting them to sleep.
But I certainly dont think that my long-developed and strongly held views against using drugs should be inflicted upon other people to whom I have no responsibility. Nor do I believe that someone elses devotion to a weed pipe in any way impinges upon some high morals or precious views that I might hold.
I dont like cats. But I dont want to outlaw cats.
Here is the thing that really bothers me now. Go ahead and smoke all the dope you want to. But why is it that I have to now pay these peoples health care bills, which are going to be much higher now that it is legal for them and their children to suck dangerous carcinogens down their windpipes?
With all the caterwauling we have heard for years from the nanny state do-gooders over the dangers of smoking tobacco and eating crappy food, where is the outrage now?

Why do people that can’t have children ,have to buy birth control ?
Let’s stop paying for alcohol, drug, sugar, lack of exercise, poor nutrition folks and cut those costs.
You and mooshelle can pass a new law.
The whole point of leftist universal healthcare is to force you to provide for others the things you think are immoral according to your Christian worldview.
They more objectively immoral it is, the more they will insist on forcing you to pay for it for others.
Great line. True too!
With all the caterwauling we have heard for years from the nanny state do-gooders over the dangers of smoking tobacco and eating crappy food, where is the outrage now?
Where, Mr. Hurt, is your outrage over having to now pay the health care bills for people who smoke tobacco and eat crappy food?
You’re pathetic.
He should be thrilled.
(Like him, I often wonder why I need to pay the same dollars for cigarette smokers, alcohol drinkers & the obese/overweight)
Thank you for your keen insight. I shall deeply ponder your words of wisdom.
You should, it’s all you deserve.
There’s conflicting evidence about the links between smoking marijuana and cancer. There’s no evidence that it’s in the same league as smoking tobacco. There’s even some evidence that THC (the active ingredient in M.J.) is an anti-carcinogen. Also, vaporizing is known to be safer than smoking (for both tobacco and M.J.)

If actuarial evidence eventually shows that smoking M.J. causes increased health problems, then that could be addressed with an insurance surcharge (as now applies to tobacco smokers).
The reason you are subsidizing various ethnic and degenerate groups is based upon the fact you and your cohorts have abdicated the right to govern and have accepted the concept of egalitarianism; i.e. the recent illegal alien is infinitely more valuable than you.
Sounds good. I shouldn’t have to pay for any health problem caused by voluntary behavior that is easily avoided.
Fried Food.
Alcohol.
Cigarettes.
You can probably thing of more....
You have to buy health care for potheads because they have to spend all their money on pot.
See? That is easy.
Oops, I forgot AIDS. Caused by an unnecessary voluntary behavior that is easily avoided.
I have a cousin just diagnosed with laryngeal cancer. Has never smoked but will spend his last dime on pot instead of food. How’s that for evidence? ;)
“I have a cousin just diagnosed with laryngeal cancer. Has never smoked but will spend his last dime on pot instead of food. Hows that for evidence? ;)”
Lousy. A sample of one is meaningless.
Twenty thousand people who never smoked die of lung cancer every year in the USA.
The problem with marijuana legalization and usage is not premature death but the medical deadening of the brain. The greater expense comes from welfare and housing for the potheads by age 45, until they finally die from emphysema at 65.
It’s worse then you think.
It’s “Medical Marijuana” right? ..
Its “prescribed” by a “Doctor” right?..
You are not only going to pay for the pot heads health care..
You are going to soon pay for the pot heads pot...
That's really funny, you meant it to be funny right? Just keep toking it up, life is probably really fun in a fog.
