United Nations: The UN Security Council will hold an emergency meeting today morning on Ukraine.
Britain's UN Mission said yesterday it requested the meeting and later tweeted that it is set for 10 am today.
The request follows Wednesday's downing of a Ukrainian air force fighter and yesterday's downing of a Malaysia Airlines passenger plane carrying 295 people over eastern Ukraine.
Britain has proposed a Security Council press statement calling for "a full, thorough and independent international investigation into the incident."
The statement, obtained by The Associated Press, was circulated to all 15 council members, who must approve it before it can be issued.

About an hour after the missile launch yesterday....I flipped my TV to RT (live and covering the episode with lots of images sent from locals). About ten minutes into this...they had two guys call in a row with details of eye-witness type.
It was an odd situation...both guys got to some point in a very good on-the-spot reporting, then immediately said “oh, but the Russians rebels fighting the Ukraine don’t have such missiles to reach this height”. The translation came through on guy number one, then almost the same wording for guy number two.
RT might be innocent, but they are simply being used by the rebels on the ground to deflect blame. I’m betting that Putin has someone on the ground and hunting down the idiots who fired the missile, and they will disappear off the face of the earth by tonight. This was not part of the Russian script and probably sets back the Russian agenda for months now. Even the locals will shake their head over why someone had to launch a missile.

It’s out of control because Putin won’t let Ukraine alone. He’s been trying to take over all of the former Soviet Union. This isn’t an isolated incident; it’s a pattern of reestablishing Russia (i.e., Putin) dominance.
Malaysia spokesman says:
“Ukraine is responsible for investigations. Malaysia offers unqualified support”
Now there’s a match..... you can pretty well figure Ukraine and Malaysia will will come out of this smelling like a Rose.
International Investigation is in order and nothing less than.
The claim that bodies are spread over several miles and that it hit the ground in once piece contradict each other.
I very much believe the facts of evidence are not yet pulled together enough to draw conclusions. Both Russia and Ukraine Army as well as Anti-Kiev forces will not take responsibility until the Investigation is completed sufficient to tell what happened. Until then Leaders and Politicians from all parties , both in the Ukraine theater of war and outside, will use this happening against one another.
However, an explosion as that could well scatter bodies....
Not over 6 or so miles (what was reported) from hitting the ground intact.
