Music teacher Flint Dollar has filed a lawsuit claiming Macon, Georgia, Catholic school Mount de Sales Academy discriminated against him based on gender, NPR reports. Dollar can't sue the school for bias against him based on sexual orientation because federal law does not bar such discrimination and neither does the state of Georgia.
Dollar's lawyer, Charles Cox, argues Dollar can use Title VII of the Civil Rights Act which forbids discrimination based on gender to sue the school because he was essentially penalized for not conforming to gender stereotypes.

... The cases filed by TerVeer and Dollar suggest that, even in states without specific legal protections for gay workers, employees may still strike back against their employers if they're fired for their same-sex relationships.
If his behavior as a teacher was not considered appropriate for children to witness, doesn’t the school have a right to terminate his employment?
“Flint Dollar”
Quick somebody get a fire extinguisher before he sets the drapes on fire.
There used to be strict moral codes for those who were teachers. Remember Little House books? They had to live with families in the community, could not do this, had to dress appropriately - because the FAMILIES hired them to teach their kids.
This is, once again, all about HIS rights to teach the kids about Sodomy. Disgusting ‘creative’ solution.
Why can’t these folks just do their jobs instead of having to flaunt their identity. If the school happened to find out that he was involved in a same sex relationship (but wasn’t advertising it) I would think that would be wrong. It sounds like he was doing some kind of proselytizing on some level —after all this is a Catholic school.
Amusing. A Catholic school is a religious institution. It receives no government support and the minor students are there voluntarily. The school purports to teach and hold the tenets of the Catholic faith. If a teacher at that school publicly displays conduct that demonstrates he or she does not hold those beliefs, it would be irrational for such a person to teach there or be a role model to the students.
I do remember those books, I devoured them all as a child. (Figuratively, of course!)
I do recall that teachers of the time had to abide by very strict moral codes. I seem to recall reading in one set of rules for teachers that the teacher had to be single, and not courting. Once she showed an interest in men, her career was over.
Indeed. The school is not the place for someone to flaunt their mental illness.
This is nonsense. He was not fired for gender nonconformity. He was fired because he violated the terms of employment in his contract, which stated that he would not, in public, oppose or violate the moral requirements of the Catholic Church.
Ping!
Yeah..
And the “wedding” video bore the title of “Fistful of Dollar”
Really! A guy with a name like Flint Dollar should really be something more exciting than a gay music teacher.
Why cant these folks just do their jobs instead of having to flaunt their identity.
...in other words, don’t ask, don’t tell...I know I’m a hidebound Neanderthal, but what exactly was offensive about that model...?
Queer activism was going nowhere with them “hiding in the shadows/plain sight”.
Now they have Homosupremacist marches/rallies in cities SPONSORED by taxpayers and corporations.
It’s all about advancing a political agenda.
“SMASH THE PATRIARCHY” is its name.
My public school contract does.
He never should have been hired in the first place.
Gender is a term used in writing to distinguish between Male and Female, the left has cooped it. Now we have two sexes and 5 or 10 genders.
His first name should be “Bill,” and his last name, “Threedollar.’
Flint Dollar is as queer as a three and a half dollar bill.
