Cease-fire proposals in wars between Israel and its neighbors are predictable: as soon as Israel is winning, the United Nations demands a cease-fire. As Dore Gold ably documents in his Tower of Babble: How the United Nations Has Fueled Global Chaos, cease-fires typically prevent a decisive end to the conflict. They have often guaranteed further war in the long run by providing a temporary calm that allows Israel's enemies to regroup.
President Barack Obama offered Thursday to broker a cease-fire between Israel and the Palestinians--actually, the Hamas terror organization. That is one of the worst ideas, among many contenders, ever proffered by the Obama administration. The effect of the cease-fire would be to stop Israel from defending its citizens from Hamas, and to preserve the terrorist group's arsenal and infrastructure for future use in another round of war.
Negotiating with Hamas would also legitimize the terror organization. In previous conflicts, Egypt has been the Hamas intermediary, which allowed cease-fires to be established without Israel having to pay the diplomatic price of granting any formal recognition to Hamas. If the U.S. were to step into Egypt's mediating role, it would give Hamas a credibility that it has never had before--and Hamas would claim that, justifiably, as a victory.

Obama has a problem here.
He has no goodwill and he has no leverage.
He is already doing everything in his power to destroy Israel so why would anyone in Israel listen to him
What makes them think Israel is interested in another losing deal that wod leave her citizens exposed to more and more bombings?
This Administration is the most Anti Israel Administration since Jimmy Carter..yet 70 percent of American Jews voted for this man
You can have a cease-fire only between honest players.
Hamas is a bunch of back-stabbing liars, anything they “agree” to will simply be discarded whenever they feel it convenient.
There’s no honesty there, how can you deal with liars?
(On the bright side, the fact that Hamas’ apologist is furiously trying to stop this conflict shows how much Hamas is suffering. Soldier on Israel, right to the finish!)
Like so many countries already have, Israel will tell Bronco ‘Bama in the words of my dear, sainted mother to “go piss up a rope”.

Prior to three or so days ago, Hamas and Israel did have an “understanding” - which Israel referred to as “quiet for quiet”. So, Israel did cooperate with Hamas in that way. However, Hamas violated that understanding that they had with Israel, so Israel has said they are not (at this present time) going back to their previous understanding of “quiet for quiet”. At this present time, and since Hamas violated their understanding, Israel says they will severely degrade Hamas’ ability to send missiles into Israel for quite a while.
Israel is actually “very modest” in their stated goals - and that is simply to take away Hamas’ ability to send missiles into Israel - but not to destroy Hamas itself.
Keep in mind - Israel DID have an understanding with Hamas (prior to their recent escalation) of “quiet for quiet”. Israel acknowledged that in public and Israel maintained that stance (prior to these recent events).
Obama never proposes a cease fire when Palestinian terrorists are firing hundreds of rockets a day into Israel, only when Israel shoots back at the terrorists. Obama hates Jews and loves terrorists. I hope the civilized world can survive 30 more months of this malignant evil.
In the past, Israel had an understanding with Hamas that its response was “quiet for quiet” - and conversely “rockets for rockets”.
The first phrase is Israel’s own stated phrase in public and on the record, while the second phrase is my own wording.
The leverage he has is supplying all the spare parts for the military gear that was sent them over the years.
Every time it shows Israel winning against Hamas or Islamic terrorists here come the world telling Israel to shut down. But if Israel were loosing ....
I think he'll win that DIShonor, don't you?
1. in the clouds,
2. in the sand,
3. or up his rear.
Which is your choice? Door number ...
Israel needs to destroy its enemies like any nation under attack must do. Merely removing their weapons is almost a meaningless defensive move because Iran and Obama etc just rearm them.

I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt here. If, somewhere in the world, Muslim terrorists were shelling Christians or Hindus, and suddenly found themselves on the receiving end, he'd be calling for a cease fire. He may well simply be pro Muslim terrorist. Willing to betray anyone in that cause.
Then again, he could simply despise Israel and her citizens.
Those aren’t USA rockets, but are of Iranian origin and help.
And, you need to remember that Israel is sort of like the position that the USA found itself in when the USA used the Mujahideen to defeat the Soviets. Israel initially backed Hamas in order to provide an offset to Arafat and the PLO. However, Israel learned shortly thereafter that it wasn’t such a good idea. It came back to “bite Israel” in the rear-end ... :-) ...
Another thing to keep in mind is that Israel doesn’t want to completely obliterate that enemy, but simply take away the ability Hamas has with rockets. That’s because Israel wants absolutely nothing to do with “administering” civil affairs in Gaza - which they would be required to do with an Israeli military government - if all the governing capability was taken away from Hamas. Israel wants ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH that nightmare scenario.
SO ... you won’t see Israel completely obliterating Hamas.
