California Republican Congressman Darrell Issa indicated Sunday that upcoming testimony from Internal Revenue Service Commissioner John Koskinen could further incriminate embattled former IRS official Lois Lerner.
Either Lois Lerners attorney is outright not telling the truth or the commissioner was inaccurate in his testimony before Congress, Issa said on Fox News Sunday. Now the lawyer, Mr. (William) Taylor, is not under oath. The commissioner is.
Issa, chairman of the House Committee On Oversight and Government Reform, was referring to statements made by Lerners legal team that contradicted claims made by Koskinen during recent House testimony. Lerner, former director of the tax agencys Exempt Organizations Division, was a leader in an IRS campaign to target conservative and Tea Party groups for abuse and suppression. Last year she pled her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination before Congress, and she resigned soon afterward. More recently the IRS has claimed that it misplaced a trove of emails relating to Lerners potentially criminal actions.
Issa noted that Koskinen has asked for a chance to clarify his earlier testimony, adding that the evidence could underscore Lerners role in the widening IRS scandal.
It probably will make us understand that Lois Lerners attorney continues to profess her innocence, when were long past the question of guilt, Issa said She broke rules; she broke the law; and she continues to hide under the Fifth Amendment, which is her right. But lets understand: She is in fact a person whos been referred for criminal prosecution.

What difference does it make. This committee is going nowhere because so far it has done nothing to the criminals. Lerner will never see jail time. And the IRS will continue to do its criminal past like nothing happened.
Question is, with the heat and pressure on her mounting at full speed....will she fall on the sword for her Lord and Master like a good little disciple, or will she have a fiery epiphany on the road to to the Graybar Hotel.
I suppose it's boils down to how much she values her sorry hide.

July 26 2014? Time traveling to be first to post an article is not permitted on FreeRepublic.
The House Republicans can have Lerner arrested and imprisoned RIGHT NOW under Congressional power of inherent contempt without Holder and without the Courts. Issa is running a dog and pony show.
IIRC, this “Commissioner of the IRS” is the THIRD one in the Obama administration.
Musical chairs to move out those who actually DO know what happened.
Having said that, this POS is pretty arrogant in his dealings with the Committee.
It depends on if she thinks she can trust Obama to give her a pardon and make her rich somehow.
Can she trust Obama? Can she really really trust him? That is a tough question.
A pardon will get her out of jail but if Obama pardoned her now she is still not exempt from testifying and telling the truth in front of Congress or any court of law. If she tries that with a pardon in hand, then she is guilty of perjury or obstruction of justice.
All she can count on is Obama pardoning her at the end of his term, in January 2017. In the meantime, she will either keep her mouth shut and endure prison and humiliation or she will sing like a canary.
She may well see jail time but for how long? She’ll be pardoned in Jan 2016 regardless.
Great scenario! I fear ,however, that in the epilog Obama survives
the ensuing onslaught because others close to him will fall
on their swords. In the end Obama will pardon Lerner etal no matter
what.
Nah, no-one can trust O. Not only does he lie at the drop of the hat, but also throws people under the bus without a care in the world.
Unfortunately, Lois Lerner is more likely to remain silent in order to be rewarded by the Democratic Party & the Washington elite. Remember the young woman who was a law student that testified before congress that the government had to pay for her birth control. I saw her in a news report recently and she is now a well-paid attorney for the Democratic Party. These communists know how to reward those faithful to the party and their followers know where their reward and their protection comes from.
Giving Lois Lerner immunity is useless because she knows that she will be well rewarded for her service to the Democrats. She is not going to tell Congress or Darrell Issa anything that would endanger that reward because Congress cannot criminally prosecute her. That is why we need a prosecutor who has the real power to take those rewards away through criminal prosecution.

Special prosecuter in 2017? GOP? If she’s pardoned go after obama.
If my memory serves me rightly a media member went to jail in the case involving Valerie Plame and Scooter Libby....and several reporters have served time in the slammer in years past for invoking the Fifth and adamantly refusing to testify.
The pleaders were all released rather quickly, but the point is that being in a federal clink even for 30 days doesn't help Loser Lois in her post-IRA career, i.e. attorney for the Democrat Party...or wherever she's hiding right now. The imprisonment will be on her public record forever.
Not that Dems care even if she homocided someone in her parlor. At the conclusion of the case, the fact may be ascertained that she committed federal crimes....and she probably would be thrown under the bus and eased out of her Dem job...and would have to find another sinecure after she served her time....and her imprisonment will always be on her resume.
But one thing is NOT speculation.....she has to make her decision shortly whether she wants to take ANY fall for Obama....or she may choose to play "let's make a deal"....and then she fingers the capo-of-all-capos from the stand....and on TV!
At some point the woman will have to get real with herself and her future......especially if she starts pondering the oldie but goodie English proverb...."is the flame worth the candle?"

I certainly can’t correct you, but correct me if I’m wrong, the difference between the Plame affair and this one is that a federal prosecutor had been appointed and he had a grand jury set up for collecting evidence. Holder has not budged an inch on the IRS case.
In my opinion (a small minority opinion here at FR) is that this is all adding pressure to force the issue with the injustice department. This coming week there are two ancillary events. On Thursday, as I recall a judge is set to entertain a motion from Judicial Watch concerning the spoliation of evidence. Then on Friday another federal judge considers an urgent motion for expedited discovery (as I recall) in the True the Vote litigation, also in regard to the spoliation of evidence. From what I was reading last week, both cases are looking pretty strong.
If Koskinen is wanting to “correct” his previous testimony he knows that he has set himself up for perjury and he wants to weasel his way out. He may not want to hang Lerner out to dry, but it sure beats finding himself being hung out to dry.
This one might get real hot real fast, but might get eclipsed by the illegal wave, or the fall of Baghdad for that matter . . . .
I suppose she values it enough to keep her yap shut.
Seems to me that the big news is Issa saying she has
already been referred for criminal prosecution, now the
ball in in Holders court, what will he do???
I do not agree with granting her immunity. She wasn't a low level participant, she was an operations manager in these illegal, corrupt and filthy partisan crimes.
First jail, then hell for her sorry hide.
