TRENTON Gov. Chris Christie today vetoed a gun control bill that would have reduced the permitted size of ammunition magazines, saying it would do nothing to reduce gun violence.
This is the very embodiment of reform in name only. It simply defies common sense to believe that imposing a new and entirely arbitrary number of bullets that can be lawfully loaded into a firearm will somehow eradicate, or even reduce, future instances of mass violence, Christie said. Nor is it sufficient to claim that a ten-round capacity might spare an eleventh victim.
The move came less than an hour after gun control advocates including parents of two children killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting dropped off at Christie's office 55,000 signatures of people from around the country, including 10,000 from New Jersey, urging him to sign the measure.

So, he really thinks he can get the nomination.
He lives in a state where you cannot get a slingshot and you need a permit for a BB gun. Such tough talk from the ruler of a state with the strictest rules in the country.
Blind squirrel, broken clock all that.....
Christie is pro-abort, pro-gay-agenda, pro-moslem, pro-amnesty, feigning pro-gun. I wouldn’t vote for him.
Sad reading some of the ignorant comments on that website.
Fat and stupid is no way to go through life son!
Cool! Now y’all can be secure in the thought you can have a 30 round magazine for your break-action shotgun.
To little to late lard a$$!!
Blind pig, broken clock, etc.
But when someone does something right it doesn’t hurt to acknowledge same.
Yes it is. I’m not a Christie guy but I appreciate his position on firearms here and will send him a letter of thanks. So should every other prohun person. You can be sure he will here from the anti gun loons
Absolutely
Correct on all points. It's not about guns ... it's about control.
“We already have too many firearms in our community In April 1993 Christie announced that he would challenge incumbent state senator John Dorsey, an 18-year lawmaker, in the Republican primary. It was a big and brassy move because Dorsey was the Senate majority leader. We already have too many firearms in our community NJ’s ban on semiautomatic weapons. The ban was among the signature pieces of legislation passed.”
“The issue which has energized me to get into this race is the recent attempt by certain Republican legislators to repeal NJ’s ban on assault weapons.”
“The governor opposed a move in Congress that would effectively override NJ’s strict laws against concealed weapons although NJ’s entire Republican House delegation voted for it. The “right-to-carry reciprocity” bill would allow anyone with a valid permit to carry in their home state the same right in any other state. In NJ holders of carry permits from other states must lock their guns up when entering the Garden State.”
“I believe that each state should have the right to make firearms laws as they see fit. I don’t believe it’s right for the federal government to get into the middle of this and decide firearms laws for the people of the state of NJ,” Christie told “The Record” in July 2009.”
” In 2009, Christie said on Fox News with Sean Hannity that he supported some gun control measures:
Q: Are there any issues where you are moderate to left as a Republican?
A: I favor some of the gun-control measures we have in NJ.
Q: Bad idea.
A: We have a densely populated state, and there’s a big handgun problem in NJ. On certain gun control issues, looking at it from a law-enforcement perspective, seeing how many police officers were killed, we have an illegal gun problem in NJ.
Q: Should every citizen in your state be allowed to get a licensed weapon if they want one?
A: In NJ, that’s not going to happen.
Q: Why?
A: With the Democratic legislature we have, there’s no way those type of things—
Q: Would you support it?
A: What I support are commonsense laws that will allow people to protect themselves, but I also am very concerned about the safety of our police officers on the streets, very concerned. And I want to make sure that we don’t have an abundance of guns out there”

Before you cheer for this gungrabbing fat ass, better check his record.
Should someone be credited, let alone championed, for doing the right thing for the wrong reason?
Particularly if that reason is shameless political self promotion?
The truth is that Christies trying to peel off just enough Conservatives tonget him back into the nomination race. His long history of support for anti-gun measures shows this act to be an outlier. If he wasn’t running for higher office as a Republican he would have signed it in a big flashy ceremony, probably with Sarah Brady on one side of him and Gabby Giffords on the other, with Newtown and Columbine families surrounding them.

2. UNDERSTAND that talking down to people you disagree with ("... expect people to treat them like adults") is for those whose arguments are so weak they must resort to classifying fellow Americans into "children" and "adults," the "adults" being themselves, of course, and the "children" those who disagree.
There are no children involved in these decisions or discussions. They are ALL adults. Only arrogant assholes consider themselves the "adults" who must chastise "children" willful enough to dispute their flawed opinions.
