House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa says he's willing to consider immunity for former IRS official Lois Lerner, but he wants to know what she plans to say first.
"If she were willing to proffer through her attorney that she would tell us something meaningful, disclose how these crimes were committed, how they sought to and who sought to go after conservative groups because of their values, then we could, and I would have a vote to grant her immunity," Issa said Tuesday on Fox News Channel's "The O'Reilly Factor."
But Issa said that South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy, a former federal prosecutor, has warned him never to grant immunity without a proffer of what the witness will say.

Sacrifice a pawn for a checkmate on the king. Not a bad idea.
Regardless, they need to do it now. Not some “possible” time in the future.
Yep. These people don't care about the laws they break. GowdyIssa better be ready to fight with brass knuckles b/c this is and has been a war to the death for the dems. Rs didn't even know we were in a war until here right when the federal government takes over.
Who will stop 0bama when he cancels elections? Seriously?
The Dems thought it would be a good idea to give Oliver North immunity. Not that the cases are comparable, but how did that work out for them.
Lerner is a liar. She is also a moonbat/hardcore Dem/liberal. She cannot be trusted. This is a bad idea.
first put her in jail for inherent contempt let her get a taste of loss of liberty, soften her up.
I’m concerned that if no one goes to jail soon there may be vigilante action to take up where our leaders fail us.
how many relatives or friends of veterans who died waiting for care or someone who has been abused or imagined abuse by irs starts taking the law into their own hands ? this administration needs to take a look around at the discontent and its possible “unintended consequences”
politicians better take a look at American and world history before they repeat it.
She’ll have the life expectancy of a housefly.
find out what she has to offer first...
If this witch were any danger to any higher up at all, she would already be at room temperature. I think Issa is playing catch up. But, that being said, I hope for the best!
If Lerner implicates Obama directly, I could see it. Otherwise, no deal.
Yes, I’m sure a mystery car crash with snare her, like that journalist last year.
I don’t know but Gowdy is right, don’t offer immunity without knowing what she will say.
Ummmm, no. Waterboard her.
Why should she talk, there is no longer any evidence?
Why would she take immunity to give up anything? To offer immunity the person accepting must first have some kind of fear. What is gonna happen if she doesn’t take immunity? Nothing.....and she knows it.
Grant immunity to her executive assistant.
If she’s spills the beans, her water heater will mysteriously explode. Or her car. Or her stove. or her electric blanket, or her toaster. etc.
A prosecutor doesn’t just offer it and then assume the witness will tell the truth. Everything is verified before there is testimony.
If the witness lies, while on the stand, they lose immunity and get charged with perjury.
If I were Lois, I’d have hard copies of those emails squirreled away somewhere as ‘insurance’. Obama and his bunch play hardball and she knows it. She might end up Breitbarted or like Hastings so I’ll bet she has some way to protect herself & email copies leading to the WH would do it. She’s talked to the DOJ so they know what cards she’s holding.
She will take immunity and everything else they want to give her and give them back nothing of prosecutorial value in return.
She is part of the regime and that is how they work.
There is no motivation for her to accept immunity. Nothing is going to happen to her anyway.
