At the end of the Civil War, but before the pernicious reach of Jim Crow undermined the Union Armys battlefield victory, former slaves and free blacks found themselves in possession of a most precious right -- the right to vote.
It didnt matter if a man had been a war hero in the famed, all-black 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiment or a house servant on a Southern plantation. All that mattered was that he was a man.
To say that this development didnt sit well with the progressive-minded women of this country is an understatement. Before the war, the abolitionist movement and the suffragist movement had been fused at the hip -- or so women believed. They werent allied causes so much as they were the same cause, demanded in the same lecture halls by the same people in the same speeches.
After four years of burying their husbands, fathers, and sons -- the Union men whod donned their countrys blue uniforms and sang John Browns Hymn as they marched to the killing fields -- American women thought they had earned some consideration. They thought they had earned the right to be heard, the right to vote, and the right to hold political office.
When this assumption was proven wrong -- when Frederick Douglass, of all people -- figuratively patted them on their heads and said in essence, Not now, little lady, not yet. Your time will come, they couldnt have felt more disillusioned.
Betrayal by the men who had made The Battle Hymn of the Republic the unofficial national song -- its lyrics written by a woman -- had lasting repercussions in the nations collective female consciousness. One of them was the idea that war is rarely the answer....

“So Hillary Clinton is the only woman, in a nation of 330 million people, who is eligible to run for the presidency?”
Yes.
She is the most brilliant woman ever to walk the face of the earth.
She is a being that only comes along every few thousand years and is the most qualified, ever, to be considered for the presidency.

IMHO
I think Drudge is obsessing about Soccer at the moment.
He updated the scores for the game, but still no link for that headline.
She will not run. Therefore she will not win.
I don’t think she will run either, she has more skeletons in her closet than Jeffrey Dahmer on a binge. I think they’ll run someone like Elizabeth Warren. Without a doubt they will run a woman.
“Conclusion: Hillary is only going to serve 1 day over 1/2 of a term,”
You probably don’t remember Francisco Franco, dictator of Spain. But he died. Then we’d get regular medical updates when the entire world knew he was dead. The guys around him were not about to give up power. (I always wondered how much money found its way into whose accounts while this went on.)
The point is, the machine around Hillary doesn’t require her to be alive. Hillary is an idea, not a substance. Ideas are immortal.
She’s way past her expiration date. She’s just waiting for her sycophants to tell her so.
There are enough “low information” voters to make this happen.
That’s a fine mess you’d have gotten us into. The Castro brothers from San Antonio are born and bred Communists, brought up by their Marxist mother to get even with their white capitalist oppressors.
Of course, both her boys managed to graduate from Harvard and then get on the Democrat government gravy train, so their tan skin was nothing but a passport to wealth and power, but they will continue to whine about their “struggle”, as Michele does, when she managed to graduate from Harvard, too! What phonies.
Good thanks, I felt bad about jumping on your lead.
Drudge finally linked to the story. Sounds not insignificant.
To begin with, Hillary fainted while she was working in her seventh-floor office at the State Department, not at home, as Reines told the media. She was treated at the State Departments infirmary and then, at her own insistence, taken to Whitehaven to recover. However, as soon as Bill appeared on the scene and was able to assess Hillarys condition for himself, he ordered that she be immediately flown to New YorkPresbyterian Hospital in the Fort Washington section of Manhattan. When Reines subsequently released a statement confirming that Hillary was being treated at the hospital over the New Years holiday, it naturally intensified speculation about the seriousness of her medical condition.
While she was at the hospital, doctors diagnosed Hillary with several problems.
She had a right transverse venous thrombosis, or a blood clot between her brain and skull. She had developed the clot in one of the veins that drains blood from the brain to the heart. The doctors explained that blood stagnates when you spend a lot of time on airplanes, and Hillary had clocked countless hours flying around the world.
To make matters worse, it turned out that Hillary had an intrinsic tendency to form clots and faint. In addition to the fainting spell she suffered in Buffalo a few years before, she had fainted boarding her plane in Yemen, fallen and fractured her elbow in 2009, and suffered other unspecified fainting episodes. Several years earlier, she had developed a clot in her leg and was put on anticoagulant therapy by her doctor. However, she had foolishly stopped taking her anticoagulant medicine, which might have explained the most recent thrombotic event.
The unique thing about clotting in the brain is that it could have transformed into a stroke, said a cardiac specialist with knowledge of Hillarys condition.
The Democrats have won the last two presidential elections by running a candidate that people felt sorry for. They will keep doing that until it doesn’t work anymore.
Who do the Democrats have that people would feel sorry for? Do they have any female or minority candidate people would feel sorry for? Say, like a disabled female Veteran?
Re your post 24, those are the only two I would vote for.
BS! It’s the media wish.
How many female co-debaters will she get to help?
The way the moderators jumped in and helped 0 during the debates was disgusting.
Separately, HRC would seem to have at least a superficial demographic advantage, because in the last several decades of presidential elections, it appears as if female voters outnumber males by about 52%-48%. Now why do so more men not vote when compared to women? Time was when politics was more of a men's thing, and most women voted pretty much the same way as their husband or boyfriend. Now we have a significant "gender gap" and it seems the leftist culture has deliberately castrated (figuratively) too many American men in the name of the feminist movement.
One antidote to HRC would be voter registration drives geared toward men.
That would be a funny line if it weren't so serious.
Thanks js.
Maybe. But the increasing questions about her health and the fact she will be 69 just one month before Election Day 2016 could trouble the electorate.
