A statement released from the office of Rep. Steve Stockman, R-Texas, says whats good for the government should be good for taxpayers. So there might come a time in the future when a letter starting out, Dear IRS, The dog ate my tax receipts, would be a perfectly acceptable response to a government inquiry about those health cost deductions for a hot tub and the trips to the Bahamas.
The word came from Stockmans office on Friday after a contentious hearing in Congress where the chief of the IRS said there was no apology due for the agencys loss of months worth of emails involving IRS agents and managers suspected of creating and managing a program for the persecution of conservative groups.
Taxpayers who do not produce documents for the Internal Revenue Service will be able to offer a variety of dubious excuses under legislation introduced by Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas) a week after the IRS offered an incredibly dubious excuse for its failure to turn documents over to House investigators, the announcement said.
The United States was founded on the belief government is subservient and accountable to the people. Taxpayers shouldnt be expected to follow laws the Obama administration refuses to follow themselves, said Stockman. Taxpayers should be allowed to offer the same flimsy, obviously made-up excuses the Obama administration uses.

The announcement said under the plan, called The Dog Ate My Tax Return Act, taxpayers who do not provide documents requested by the IRS can claim one of the following reasons:
Those include:
The dog ate my tax receipts
Convenient, unexplained, miscellaneous computer malfunction
Traded documents for five terrorists
Burned for warmth while lost in the Yukon
Left on table in Hillarys Book Room
Received water damage in the trunk of Ted Kennedys car
Forgot in gun case sold to Mexican drug lords
Forced to recycle by municipal Green Czar
Was short on toilet paper while camping
At this point, what difference does it make?
His office confirmed to WND the resolution is being introduced.
Perhaps you have a few excuses that you wish to add to the list.
All my records were on my hard drive, which was recycled.
Sandy Berger took them
Ya notice the IRS never loses information, data or records of those targeted on the receiving end of their investigations?
Were talking about not single scrap of data which is collected on tens of millions of Americans who get targeted by them, have never been lost....Yet they lost all the data of everyone on their government side who just happens to be in on this criminal conspiracy can’t locate the data...It’s just lost!
Even restrained idiots aren’t buying their deceit and lies.
When I received your letter I immediately dropped by computer in the fireplace on accident . . . the hard drive is cooked.
“Taxpayers shouldnt be expected to follow laws the Obama administration refuses to follow themselves,
Exactly. When the chief law enforcement official in the US can pick and choose which laws he will enforce and obey, then the people have no obligation to obey them either.
I sent my tax information to Lois Lerner.
The IRS boss said today for the next 20 years any American or business, who has lost receipts, their accounting data, all deduction documents they’ve claimed, will be overlooked, and the IRS audits will end immediately and take no further action.
But only on the condition they promise to upgrade their computers and get better back up systems and to be more careful.
Let’s hear it for Texas!
LOL this is great.
LOL
We paid our estimated taxes upfront and in advance for the next 10 years. Unfortunately we have lost all the documentation which would establish and prove this.
I have no doubt they’ll believe us.
Stored them with Obama’s original birth certificate.
All my tax records are on Lois Lerner’s hard drive. Have you heard from her lately? She is not answering my emails.
So any filing over six months old should be past the statue of limitations, and therefore beyond audit.
Actually, I want public hangings of all at the IRS and WH involved it this sorry crock of ——; especially those who think it’s funny.
I don’t know whether I’m a boy or a girl...
Ha, list is hilarious
Is this resolution serious? If yes, libs hate mockery so this would be a huge slap in face.
