Rep. King: Paul, Cruz Will Use Cantor Loss to ‘Stop Gov’t from Functioning’
Mediaite ^ | June 11th, 2014 | Evan McMurry

Representative Peter King (R-NY) warned on Morning Joe Wednesday morning that the Rand Paul/Ted Cruz wing of the Republican Party would use House Majority Leader Eric Cantor’s (R-VA) surprise defeat last night to push a far-right agenda bent on shutting the government down.

“My concern is a lot of things are going to be dead and pushed aside,” King said. “I’m concerned that the Ted Cruz supporters, the Rand Paul supporters, are going to use this as an excuse to basically stop the government from functioning. Thank god there’s no debt ceiling bill coming up. Thank god there’s no way to shut the government down in the next few months, because I think we’ll get bogged down in those side issues. I think we’re going to see basically the status quo over in the next six months.”

“What Ted Cruz did last year was suicidal,” King said, alluding to the Cruz-engineered government shutdown that cost the GOP mightily in the polls last October. “I hope that doesn’t become party policy. So we can’t allow Eric’s defeat last night allow the Ted Cruzes and Rand Pauls to take over the party, or their disciples to take over the party. Because this is not conservative to me. Shutting down the government down is not conservative.”

Here is a “third” TEA Party Platform:

* Close and seal the Southern US Border, all 2,000 + miles of it.

* Cancel NAFTA.

* Abolish all Federal, State and Local Welfare payments to non-citizens of the USA.

* Block all money transfers to Mexico, or other any Country South of our Southern Border.

* Have lunch.

* After lunch, pass and sign Federal Penalty law to anyone who hires an Illegal Alien Invader, with a fine of $1,000 per day per alien.

* String Concertina Wire Holding-Pen Stockades at 100 mile intervals for the newly captured gotta-ways.

* Be as hostile to Mexicans as the Mexicans have been to the US Marine held and tortured in Prison by the Mexican Guards for the last two months.

* Hire Greyhound Bus Company to transport Illegal Alien Invaders to Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s Chain Link Desert Spa near Phoenix, Arizona.

* Have supper.

Peter King is a NY liberal posing as a RINO Republican. King, we see through the veneer and even your phony RINO disguise is enough to want you gone. Time to resign you phony fraud.

Having the government up and running the last few years has really done us all a tremendous amount of good......

Rep. King, please, just shut up.

I've had enough of these @ssholes who look upon government as an industry and spend their careers working in it at the expense of taxpayers.

Get lost, Peter King. Eric Cantor showed you how to make that happen the hard way.

you mean Peter King is NOT a Democrat? Could have fooled me. Looks like a liberal, talks like a liberal, and probably smells like one too.

Personally, I wish government would stop functioning period. Every time they pass a bill, any bill, my freedom suffers another hit.

Cruz cannot stop government from functioning when it is already incapable of functioning properly. King is a douche.

Am I the only person who’s thinking Peter King is going to switch to the other party?

If that should happen, what a glorious day that would be. As a matter of fact, it is not really functioning very well today. And ‘no functioning’ would be a great improvement.

And, that's a bad thing!?

"Stop (this) government from functioning..."

Please, from your mouth to God's ears.

Promises, promises....

They spent the last two months laughing at how the TEA party is dead and now they are all panicked by one loss...

Lindsay-girl just scraped by with 56% of the vote... not a strong endorsement for an incumbent in an OPEN primary

We need Rand Paul. He's all over the place with his views, but he attracts voters away from the pre-ordained elite in both parties. During Cruz's 21 hours, Rand Paul was there, asking tough questions for sure, but questions tha seemed to keep Cruz's magnificent intellectual and speaking skills from slowing down.

I don't like his support of Mitch McConnell and recognize he's not a constitutional conservative purist. But I do like him on our side.

Boy have you got that wrong.

Rand Paul IS ONE of the Elite.

He backed GOP-Elite McConnell over the Tea-Party Bevin.

He's decided that the Social Issues are not important anymore.

He's got his own Amnesty plan.

Bevin was handed everything he needed to run a decent campaign. He has no track record of voting and made big mistakes as the campaign unfolded. I can't really fault Rand Paul for supporting the US Senator from his state, although I don't like it.

Rand Paul is all over the place with his views. Sometimes I think he's just bored and likes to say stuff. Do I want him to run for President? No. But it's getting so perception matters. I want those who support Rand Paul perceiving themselves as people who don't vote with the in crowd.

“Stop functioning”

It needs to be tore down all the way to the foundation, and reassembled from our Constitutional blueprint.
