I just heard earlier this morning that his promotion is on hold pending further review
And get over $300 grand in back pay.
So ... walk off your post to help the enemy, get 6 men killed trying to save you and another dozen killed as positions are weakened hunting you down, get 5 top terrorists released (who knows what the body count is for the U.S. in capturing these killers the last time around or will be in the future), and you get a Rose Garden ceremony for our parents, hometown hero welcome, AND a promotion.
Ka-ching. He can add to the $300K stash that taxpayers have been paying him while he was on his Taliban tour of duty. No wonder the Defense Dept. whines that they don’t have enough money. This should spur our toothless “conservatives” to further cut their budget.

IMHO, it is clear that he is a deserter. As I understood it, the US Army already determined this in 2010.
If he is convicted of that...he should spend a lot of years in Leavenworth.

300K? This joker was E-3 for a year, E-4 for a year, and E-5 for three years. Even with combat pay and tax-free, he averaged 60K a year? I’m only 68. Will they still take me back?

They seem to have completely skipped 2012/2013, and going right for the 2014 promotion. I'm not totally versed on the progression of military rankings, but so as to not shortchange the guy, shouldn't he advance at least to a lower-rung General?
The whole story seems to have a slight smell of outdated milk. I kept my record unquestionable in the military & still couldn’t get promoted anywhere near on schedule.
