PM Why Team Obama Was Blindsided by the Bergdahl Backlash
NRO ^ | 3 June 2014 | Ralph Peters

Posted on 06/04/2014 5:15:28 AM PDT by Rummyfan

Congratulations, Mr. President! And identical congrats to your sorcerer’s apprentice, National Security Adviser Susan Rice. By trying to sell him as an American hero, you’ve turned a deserter already despised by soldiers in the know into quite possibly the most-hated individual soldier in the history of our military.

I have never witnessed such outrage from our troops.

Exhibit A: Ms. Rice. In one of the most tone-deaf statements in White House history (we’re making a lot of history here), the national-security advisor, on a Sunday talk show, described Bergdahl as having served “with honor and distinction.” Those serving in uniform and those of us who served previously were already stirred up, but that jaw-dropper drove us into jihad mode.

But pity Ms. Rice. Like the president she serves, she’s a victim of her class. Nobody in the inner circle of Team Obama has served in uniform. It shows. That bit about serving with “honor and distinction” is the sort of perfunctory catch-phrase politicians briefly don as electoral armor. (“At this point in your speech, ma’am, devote one sentence to how much you honor the troops.”)

It looks to me like, regardless which is actually the case, Bergdahl the raghead deserter gets a pass.

Superb article - thanks for posting it.

My favorite quote:

“Of earnest mien and blithe assumption, one talking head after another announced that “we always try to rescue our troops, even deserters.”
Uh, no. “Save the deserter” is a recent battle cry of the politically indoctrinated brass. For much of our history, we did make some efforts to track down deserters in wartime. Then we shot or hanged them. Or, if we were in good spirits, we merely used a branding iron to burn a large D into their cheeks or foreheads. Even as we grew more enlightened, desertion brought serious time in a military prison. At hard labor.”

Exactly. Those terrorists that he released. (The ones that our countrymen fought and possibly died to capture) have been living it up at Club Gitmo. They have been on an extended vacation... fattened up on orange glazed chicken and air conditioning... now refreshed... ready to fight again.

A question: A soldier standing by Marine One or Air Force One, by the steps. If the president enters the steps and the soldier doesn’t salute, what are the reprecussions?

If you stream Netflix you can watch this Danish thriller. It is a very good movie in its own right, I recommend it.

But....as relates to your post, if you don’t want to see whole the movie, you should jump to 48 minutes and watch the next 12 minutes.

And this “irreparable damage to the WH” would result in what sort of actual hurt to Otraitor, exactly?

I just think saw what he thought was a golden opportunity to grand stand and with a minimal investment of time and expense to himself.

Unfortunately, like all other enterprises he’s initiated or involved in, he/his creatures have the depth of perception and understanding of issues as your average tree slug.

Not looking past the totally obvious and superficial, they moved independently on this before talking to any one else... and of course the result is laughable.

I am certain as well, that money changed hands and possibly MORE and actually damaging information went south.

It’s an indicator of the mentality of this President and shows dramatically his and his administration’s summary disregard and disrespect for the long-established and legitimate protocols.

I can’t wait for this amateur night (nightmare) to END!

“””Rice is Liar cum laude.”””

Yes, just like the article explained.:
“But pity Ms. Rice. Like the president she serves, she’s a victim of her class. Nobody in the inner circle of Team Obama has served in uniform. It shows. That bit about serving with “honor and distinction” is the sort of perfunctory catch-phrase politicians briefly don as electoral armor. Those words are evidence of years of political
conditioning. Those words just effortlessly rolled out of her politician’s mouth. She could make a statement like that in her sleep without even knowing the subject matter she is talking about.

“Wheels within wheels and some times the wheels turn each other”. I don’t remember where I read that statement but it seem to fit the Socialist administration we now have.

“Never attribute to malice that which can be explained by incompetence.”

My analysis is that since most of the official information is classified; no one told the pajama clad, latte sipping children in the White House that there were issues.

Since Bergdal was listed as POW, publicly, these twits never asked if there were any issues. Go back and listen to what Obama said during his announcement. He genuinely believed he was going to be praised for this. Oh, and people would forget about the VA thing.

Yup, that worked well.

The Bergdahl mess was a tone-deaf attempt to finesse the VA scandal by showing concern for the troops. The obozo administration thought we’d all be cheering for this amazing “rescue”. They simply don’t understand what they are doing and refuse to believe that we do understand what they’re doing.

Looks like obama is finally paying a small price for something he'd done to US.

He set out to free the blind sheik, but some American heroes died getting in the way of that plan and all he got was a Benghazi t-shirt and a dead ambassador.

What's a poor boy to do? He has to please his ideological brothers and keep the Boss happy. He needs another scheme. Valerie...HELP!

So...he swaps a traitor for the Taliban's top five favs in Gitmo!

Oh sure, it's not as good as freeing the sheik, but it's a nice gift while they wait and it's one more trophy for his Presidential Library's Trophy case.
