"Youll know in 30 years when youre enduring her poetry on the 30th annual Maya Angelou Day: the most solemn day in the USSA."Great. Another federal holiday for 21,995,000 government employees. Of course in 30 years everyone will be (full time) government employees.

Thanks whoever resurrected this thread! I forgot about my old fake Maya poem from post 41:
Trayvon
by Maya Angeloo
I sing of thee Trayvon
Lamented burnt umber crayon
Shoud of stayed at home
and got your lay-on
But you heard the siren song of wet grass
and headed for Seven Elevon.
Zimmerman the triggerman
Big game hunter lay in wait
White hispanic in a panic
Rubberheaded, held your fate.
By punching him, you tried to reason
You cant of known - was black-boy season
Stand your ground, ground and pound,
Frito Bandito shot you down.

She became a poet and writer after a series of occupations as a young adult, including fry cook, sex worker, nightclub dancer and performer, cast member of the opera Porgy and Bess, coordinator for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and journalist in Egypt and Ghana during the decolonization of Africa. Former poet laureate of the US and liberal activist. Highly celebrated by the Left.a) The United States of America has no such thing as a Poet Laureate.
b) The Consulting Poet to the US Library of Congress -- sometimes called "Poet Laureate" -- was a post that Maya Angelou never had.
c) As a poet, she sucked. RIP.

She used to love flying on the Concorde.
A Poet One Percenter with ties to the Clinton's.
A Rock, some Paper and some Scissors. I recall her Poem when the first Black President was Inaugurated.

The was an old woman named Maya.
Who sported a face like a Tie-ya.
Her poems were shite,
So try as I might,
Her stuff never set me on fie-ya.

Actually, the informal title was formalized by Congress in 1985, but you’re right: she didn’t ever hold the position...my bad for not confirming the research.
