Its the kind of conservative media story only conservatives understand.
The latest numbers are out for Michael Savages radio show. Recall that Savage was a key player in the battle between Sean Hannity and Cumulus radio. A battle that had an exasperated Hannity finally firing Cumulus, as reported here in NewsBusters at the time. But not before Savage, whom Cumulus had in the wings to replace Hannity in the latters Cumulus slots, took shots at Hannity, gloating at taking Hannitys slot.
The Savage numbers tell a revealing tale of conservatism in the media. So lets start with the brand new numbers themselves, numbers supplied by Nielsen Audio. They are the numbers for April last month -, and cover 52 of Americas major radio markets. We will directly compare them here with Sean Hannitys last numbers before being replaced on Cumulus stations - which is to say Hannitys numbers for December, 2013. The percentages cited again, these are from Nielsen Audio (formerly known as Arbitron) are nothing if not startling.

There are jobs that would be intimidating for me to try to do.
To fill in for Rush would be an overwhelmingly intimidating job.
To fill in for Savage would be intimidating since I’m not as educated as he is.
To fill in for Hannity would not be very intimidating. Just mention some disgust for liberal goings-on, and say “unbelievable” at the end of each. Back when he would fill in for Rush I would promptly change stations. I’d say to myself, “How did that guy get to that level of broadcasting?”
I would definitely replace Rush with Levin(not Levine) for top spot.
Laura Ingraham used to be better too...I know someone who works out with her at the gym and said she’s arrogant. So that affects my opinion of her. But I just renewed my membership with her show ...so will try again.
I definitely believe that, being deaf and America’s top radio guy, must take a lot of mental energy and concentration.
Interesting. I have never met Boortz, but I got the impression from hearing him on his show that he was arrogant, and probably a jerk.
Sounds like your experience confirms it.
This is precisely why Hannity’s show has tanked.
It is the exact same garbage every single day, every show is a carbon copy of every other show.
The only other thing I’d like to add is that his taste in music is awful, and that this is how we roll bumper he keeps playing is like nails on a chalkboard.
I see retirement in his future.
Hannity deserves to be ostracized for letting the degenerate fellow snake oil salesman MYTH ROMNEY campaign on his "Show".
Letting LOUSY companies advertize on a program reflects on the Host.
Hannity is only useful in the 3 months before an election.
What election would that have been?
Our local Mark Belling fills in for Rush. Some people don’t like him but I find him to be intelligent and interesting to listen to...if not polished(think Wisconsin accent).
Incidentally, I’m going to have to do something about my user name. I no longer live part-time in Colorado as I was run out of the state by a bunch of pot smoking nutcase California transplanted libs.
Back to homestate of Wisco for a while but can’t take the winters anymore.
Arizona is my next stop...so I guess I could keep my name because of the Catalina mountains which will be inches from my front door. :-)
That isn’t why his ratings have tanked at all.
Read the responses in this thread and you will know why.
Because that demographic might have a few bucks that haven't been confiscated by the DC Oligarchy?
I feel for you. The Catalina Mountains are right outside Tucson, which is a hotbed of radicalism and despotism. I finally got out of there about eight months ago. Raul Grijalva and Ron Barber are your reps.(kind of) Don’t expect either of them to ever vote your way on anything. For that matter don’t expect the two Republican senators to either. One of them is McCain.
Plus the traffic lights have cameras on top and they put up camera speed zones and the traffic cops will write you up for anything. Every drive somewhere is an adventure and Tucson isn’t much for freeways. It’s wall to wall traffic.
Otherwise, welcome to Arizona.
MICHAEL MEDVED is on at this time in most of Hannity’s markets. Miles beyond Savage.
When will he get tired of being second, only to Rush?
Yeah, Belling does a good job. He’s much better than Hannity.
Arizona....That sounds nice. Northern Arizona anyway. I’ve been in Illinois my entire life, and have traveled from coast to coast, trucking. But, with our youngest son settled in Alabama, we’re strongly considering a move down there. Probably somewhere between Birmingham and the Tennessee border. My wife has had it with the midwest winters. I guess I have too.
Right on
He knows about and exposes the real evil behind it all and helps people to become truly free....rather than just rambling on and on and getting people riled up with no real remedy. www.fhu.com is where you can listen in from 9-11 pm live m-f.
Normal companies can’t advertise on talk radio without being blasted and boycotted by the left.
I quit listening to Medved back in 2006 when he came out strongly for amnesty for illegals. I don't think I've listened to him for more than a few minutes since. Medved is a RINO's "RINO" - I believe that if liberal talk radio paid what conservative talk radio pays, then Medved would be broadcasting on Air America or some other commie network.
I like Savage in small doses late at night now and then, and more than I like Hannity (either before or after his insipid new format), but they’re both lightweights, and I’d be hard pressed to say I really get much out of either one.
Rush is a mixed bag ideologically, but by far the most professional in his understanding of the medium. Beck is inconsistent, but well worth it when he’s “on.” Medved’s a statist.
Levin provides a wonderful education, but his style rubs me the wrong way and his show’s not at all entertaining. I don’t think I’d like him much as a person.
Hannity is not useful in eliminating the election of Muzzies, just being interesting to listen to (and his interviewees).
