The ‘power to” and the “right to” are two distinctly separate concepts.
IN THEORY? IN THEORY?
Did we give up our freedom of speech? and if you listened to what he said, is it really that wrong, considering how some of of the black community behaves?
Are they going to ban Charles Barkley for saying “This is a Black League”?
That is not exactly true. The NBA exists only because Congress created an exception to the Sherman Anti-Trust act to allow the league to exist. As such it is a quasi governmental organization. It is subject to many of the same rules that would apply to cities and other governmental agencies.
I suspect that the authorization for the NBA requires that owners be subject to non discriminatory rules and certain limitations on speech. Additionally the NBA probably has a morals clause that would prohibit the owner from actions or statements that might damage the reputation of the league.
Yep,he’s the best kind of Democrat now.
LOL
They needed to bring charges against him before attempting to ban or take his property. Even if there is a contract.
Can’t wait to see the lawsuit filed against Silver and the NBA. Where is the discrimination? Sterling had a black girlfriend, hired predominantly black players for his team, and had other black people around him on many occasions. Now the man may have made a stupid remark but since when it is a violation of any law to voice your opinion or idea or belief as long as no laws were broken. I hope Sterling bankrupts the NBA. Let the SOBs find a better paying job anywhere else.
Put it in perspective of the situation. Is that fine one-day's payroll for his team? 1/2 the ticket sales for a single game? Is it really excessive?
Where does one get "justice" of this type, when the rest of us schmucks have spend years filing documents with the courts and going through legal process?
Oh, yeah, like the NCAA, "found guilty, punished anyway!"

A REALIST would say that it was all planned in advance.
“Freedom of Speech” does not apply here. It only applies to government regulation of Speech.
1. I don’t know.
2. I don’t care.
3. I really, really don’t care..............
Only for specified acts and whether a private conversation constitutes "detrimental conduct" will make for a very interesting lawsuit. Where would that stop? If an owner state in a private conversation that he disagrees with gay marriage can the homo crowd exercise a heckler's veto and strip the owner of his franchise by instituting a boycott?
The NBA would like that. Sterling would disappear. The NBA would simply form a new team, with a new name, sold to their preferred new owner (Magic Johnson?)
I’m sure lots of good, hardworking and decent people work in the organization. Nothing funny about not getting paid.

That’s what Mark Cuban said.............
Meh, it’s not much money in the scheme here. And if it is stipulated damages in the agreement he waives his right to raise that issue.
Agreed, he is a scumbag from the get-go, so wonder how many other big-buck leftist are shaking in their boots over when the next hot-mike comment may show up from them? Also, how many of those leading the charge here would stand up under the same scrutiny, even with the double-racist-standard applied?
