If you're A.J.P. Taylor and believe Hitler was "rational" in that sense, then Putin may well be another Hitler -- just as Hitler was another Bismarck.

That doesn't mean Putin is wonderful, but he probably doesn't want to take over Britain and France and achieve world dominance anytime soon.
